An alarmed yell came from a male servant as they gained everyone's attention. A woman, Hina, came around the corner. She was running. The fear in her dark brown eyes could be seen clear as day as she was came closer. Blood splattered her clothing and dirt covered the entire lower half of her kimono. She was sweaty and her hair had come down from the top of her head in a natted bun at the base of her neck.
"Run! Everyone, Run!" She screamed as she came closer to the servant that had shouted. Before she could reach the man, she was pounced on by the girl we had found. Hina let out a scream.
Hina fell to the ground and the girl attacked her face, neck, and chest. A stunned silence of pure fear swept over all of us. Hina's beautiful smile hurtled through my brain. He sweet scent and her charmingly quiet voice. And her screams.
They were deafening. They clung to the air as everything slowed down. She was in pain. She was scared and no one did a thing to stop it. Ifan. . . Where is Ifan? Why hasn't anyone moved? By the time I had finished my thoughts, I had only half noticed I had been getting closer to my dying friend.
"Get off." My voice was hardly a whisper. Any human would struggle to hear it over the screams.
"I said. . .Get off." The sound was shaky as I continued to watch the monster rip my only true friend to ribbons. Hina's flesh was dangling off of her throat and her scalp was flapping as Hina gurgled in her own blood. The demon's elongated limbs bent at precarious angles. Her legs having two jointed areas, and her arms bowing inward as she scratched, and pulled, and ate Hina's face.
A light began to glow from the Earth. The stones around my body began to lift from the ground. I glared at the demon. She began to shake in my vision. The light from the ground wrapped around me in a thin sheet, and covered me from head to toe. The servants covered their eyes as the light became more prominent.
"Get off of her!" The sound of my voice seemed distorted. It's usually deep resonance was echoed by a harmony of voices. A pulsing of power flooded my body as I raised my my hand.
The demon shrieked. A full wave of the light gathered in my hand, the tingling pulses stopped and claimed my hand. I felt the energy slowly draining from my body and quickly tried to send the wave of light into the demon. It worked.
With a bright flash of light, the bundle of energy slammed into the demon. It screamed. The loud piercing sound vaulted around in my head while the demon's body disintegrated. A final yelp of pain was all that would remind us of it ever being there.
The light slowly disappeared and I ran to reach Hina's side. She gurgled softly as the blood in her mouth pooled. She groaned in pain as I shifted her to her side. She was suffocating.
"I'm sorry, but y-you're going to choking. I don't know what to do." My voice shook more the longer I looked at her.
"H-Help me. Please." She cried and a final gasp lifted her chest and then she was silent. I paused. Tears lined my face. I looked at her eyes. They were completely glazed over and a single tear fell from the lifeless orbs. A dull gleam took hold of the once kind brown and she was gone.
