Oh what a wonderful, wonderful thing,a man and a woman,
a day and a ring.
Hearts go pittery-pat, kissy-kissy and bling-bling.
Marching and marching the time passes by,
lots of who-laughs, you-funs, and my-oh-my-mys.
Then by magic, a magical thing happens. Yes, a magical "surprise"...
Bringing tireds and bloatings, and sleepies and cries.
And you learn that a baby is growing insides.
Then one day it happens, that joyous time arrives...
Moms and Dads, friends and fams, waiting impatiently by...
Oh my, Oh my, Oh my my my my.
Oh they wait and they wait, check e-mails and post on line.
They twittery-tweet-tweet, they frettery-fret-fret,
the more longer it takes, the more worrier they get...
Then the daddy appears, and they all shout at once, "tell us new daddy, which baby did we get???"
Pink baby, blue baby what is the name?!?
Some of us no doubt guessed it in a showery-bingo-like game."
Yes today is the beginning, see it's all just begun.
The days of walkedy-walk-walking are now runny-run-run,
in many more ways than just one, one, one, one.
There are diapers to change now, oh the diapers you'll see...
odiferously toxic as bio-toxins can be...
But the doodley-doodles and stinkey-est stinks will eventually give way,
one glorious day,
to big-kid butt covery things from the local box store...
of cartoon characters and super heros and festooned with fun colors galore.
But that's not the end, oh no, not nearly the end, there's still someone to wipe, love and read to my friend.
But one thing's for sure, time moves on and little kids grow –
they grow, and they grow, and they growy, grow, grow.
That clingy little baby thingy, grows even more than you know.
There's the cloppety-walking,
the babbly-talking,
the shorty-short napping and bathroom-y like stalking,
the endless stickyness, the high-chair icky-ness,
binky mouthed, droopy pant, temper-tantrum-y bickery-ness...
all part of the fun of parenting I promise-es.
Then the teens arrive and your baby starts to drive,
and you ask yourself, "where did all of this time go-go-go?"
You'll ask yourself over and over again,
"how did this happen, how didn't I know???"
Well the days blend together, they melt-y, melt, melt,
and you get those strange feelies, like your parents have felt...
Yes it's another notch achieved, in baby's belt-y, belt, belt.
As baby walks over to the family's motoring machine,
you're keenly aware,
more now than ever before,
that you're watching your heart walking straight through that door...
And you crave for those days, those sleep deprived days, that passed by you years before.
Proud of baby's progresses, it's a little scary too,
but you know that your baby knows the right things to do...
You taught, because you knew,
one day they would have to make decisions on their own, and possibly forever without you.
Still you can't help but wonder, what is all of this for?
Circle of Life, you remind yourself. It's your future,
your love,
your forever and ever more.
So enjoy all of the little things,
they ARE all that matter;
every hiccup, and giggle,
and pittery-patter.
Enjoy every moment, each one that they do,
because in a blinkety-blink, in just a minute or two,
baby pink or baby blue will be faster, taller and smarter than you.
'Til one day when magical-magic comes to bless their family too; and they see – finally see –
how much their parents really knew,
knew, knew, knew!
