Luciliana's Diary

Dear Diary,

Wind whipping in my ears, blood running down my face. I run and run, trying to escape the boy with his pocket knife who is chasing me. I trip and can see him nearing, my vision of him blurring as I start to lose life. He gets closer and I reach for a log lying in the grass. Before I can reach it, pain fills my head as I start to black out. I woke from my dream to see my older brother Jeremy standing next to my bed. "What was it this time, Luciliana?" He asked as I sat up. His hair was a total mess and he looked like he had seen a ghost. I stared at him for a moment before remembering his question and answered, "The usual." He looked at me sadly, contemplating what to do. He asked me if I was hungry and I nodded my head slightly. When we walked into the kitchen I could see my three older sisters sitting at our small dining room table. My sisters' names are Rose, Janelle and Arabelle. Rose is nineteen and has long, orange hair, Janelle is 16 and has long, white hair, Arabelle is 17 and has shoulder-length brown hair, Jeremy is 14 and has long-ish blonde hair, and I am 12 with short blonde hair. A lot of people say I look like a boy. In one month would be my first Reaping to be selected as tribute for the Hunger Games. Jeremy said I wouldn't be chosen for the Games. I hoped he was right.
