Jane was a plain girl, with a fierce spirit. All of 9, when all journey's start she being a wanderer, wandered to the forest at the back of her home one fine day when her parents were out and she had escaped from her grandmother.
Now, our story starts when Jane like another famous story falls down a hole,or rather crawls down one, this time a foxe's hole though. She was always curious about that fox with his glinting eyes and mischievous face whenever she had seen him come out. And since she always wanted a pet friend she decided to wait for him today and maybe have a sandwich and a lemonade if he fancied one too. So she sat herself in front of his hole that was in a tree trunk hoping he would be there.
Mr. Fox had just finished his nap, and came out yawning, saw her and instinctively turned to go back in.
"Hello Mr. Fox, how nice to see you. Ohh don't go back in being shy. I've wanted to see you since so many days".
Mr. Fox looked at her and somehow seeming to understand, nodded.
Jane not sure if she saw right tried again. Trying to pat his head she said,"Would you be my friend and let me come visit your hole home?. I've brought meat sandwiches for you and lemonade for me". He licked her hand and gave his mischievous look as if understanding every word of hers and inviting her in.
And so she followed him and her journey to the underground hotel started. How did that happen? A hotel you say,in the midst of a forest ? Well read on....Mr. Fox trotted in front of her all the time beckoning her to follow. Jane crawling on her fours was surprised to see that the hole was actually a tunnel from inside the tree, and all the more surprised when she saw that she was now walking down wooden stairs that were all shiny and freshly varnished. Foxy she thought as it better suited her companion was trotting ahead as if this was his familiar world and he lived here. He must surely have a master who lives down here and has brought me to meet him, Jane thought to herself. They were now walking along a corridor of interwining roots that made up the walls. The floor was plain wood but what amazed her was how the space was so wide below with roots branching all around making a naturally intricate design, looking like walls.
They came out onto a reception area that had a huge front desk and a manager too!
THE UNDERGROUND HOTEL
the sign read that was embedded into the tree root behind the desk with a beautiful flourescence from within. "Am I in a hotel with a fox besides me? How weird?"Jane wondered out aloud making the manager look up. His name badge read Pavithra. Pa-vith-ra she tried reading, having recently learnt to join syllables. "Yes, of course you're in a hotel. It's the only underground hotel ever built with all natural elements, and known to very few. Welcome Jane. I see you've found Mr. Fox and decided to follow him down here like so many children."
"Hello..." Jane said rather shyly. She wasn't very good around adults, so she stood there gazing at Pavithra with his neat black hair and half rimmed glasses as he beamed at her with a smile. "How do you know my name sir?" "Ohh you can call me Pavithra. I'm no sir. Well,we've been expecting you since a long time, but you've been slow to the charms of Mr. Fox" he said jokingly. "You've been selected for a stay at the most adventurous hotel with it's myriad attractions and a chance to meet it's creator if you succeed at the doors". So if it's adventure that you're seeking then come along and let's assign you a room".
"But my parents are not along. How will I be living here without them?" Jane asked anxiously already missing her Mom."Well dear, parents are not intended to accompany as it's a whole new world down here. So you'd be leaving it all behind. You can go back anytime though", Pavithra added in with a whisper.
