5. A MISTAKE OF A DATE

After school I told the girls bye and went to my car. I went to the normal spot that I have been parking it, next to the flagpole in row 4. But I couldn’t find it. I looked and looked till almost all the cars have already left. Then I found it, in row 8, right next to Dominic’s red mustang. I don’t remember parking it WAY over here, this is where all the Black’s park, and I am not a Black, I am a Willow. This is really strange!  I thought.

I walked over to my car and saw Dominic. He was heading over to his car, and he was staring at me. I didn’t think much of it, so I put my backpack in its normal spot and walked to the driver’s side.

“Hey, Bree. What are you doing?? I thought that you would be gone by now,” Dominic said.

“Um, hi. Ya I was hoping to be gone by now but I couldn’t find my car,” I said sheepishly.

“Oh, that’s ok, its kind of a big parking lot,” he said laughing.

“What’s so funny? A new girl can’t get lost in the parking lot?” I asked him.

He stopped laughing, seeing as I was being serious, “Um, I guess so. I’m sorry if I made you mad,” Dominic said.

“That’s ok. So what are you up to?” I asked.

“Nothing really, why? Do you want to hang?” he asked.

“Um, I was just asking. If you want to, sure,” I said shyly.

“So like a date?” he asked.

“Um, no, no… I mean if you want to…”

“Sure. It’s a date. How about tomorrow right after school at the new café in town, what’s it called…um… oh yes, Kathy’s Café. Is that fine with you?” he asked.

“Sure, that’s fine. Do you want me to meet you there or…”

He cut me off, “Just park here again and we can drive together. And here,” he said as he was giving me a piece of paper.

“What’s this for?” I asked curiously

“Just read it when you get in the car. See you tomorrow Bree,” he said as he leaned in and kissed me on the cheek. His lips wear strangely cold; they felt like if he had been holding ice to his lips for 2 hours.

“Sure…” I said as he walked over to his car and drove away.

I stood there in a daze, then I heard a horn beep behind me. I looked behind me to see Hadley and Homer, Dominic’s brother and sister waiting in a yellow jeep for me to move. So I moved out of the way to get in my car.

I finally got home and I saw that my dad still was not back yet. YES! Dad still isn’t back! He thinks that I have already been home for a while. Yes! I thought. So I got out and went inside the house. Once I was in, my phone started ringing, I looked and saw it was my dad.

“Hi dad. What’s up?” I asked. “Hey honey. Um I wanted to see if you would go do the horses for me, I wont be home for about another hour and a half, and it is already almost 5:30.” He said. “Ya, sure I will. All the stuff is in the barn right?” I asked. “Yes. Also if you want to call in for pizza or something go right ahead,” he said. “Ok, um, we had pizza yesterday, so I am going to call for some Chinese, you want any?” I asked him. “No that’s ok. I will pick up some Wendy’s before I come home. I will call when I am on my way. Just do the horses, eat, and do your homework, I want it done when I get home.” He said.

“Ok, no problem dad. I love you.” I said, “Love you too, honey,” my dad said as he hung up the phone.

Well, I get the house all to myself. I better get doing those horses, looks like it is going to rain soon. I thought.

I went to put my phone back in my pocket when I remembered that Dominic had given me a piece of paper. I dug in my other pocket to find it. Then I slowly open the letter…

                        Bree-

I hope that you are having a good time in Colt. I know it is not the best city in the county but it will do. I can’t wait for our date. If you need to cancel for any reason I put my phone number at the bottom of this note. I really hope that you don’t cancel on me. Well, see you tomorrow, have a good nightJ

-         Dominic Anthony Black

íMy phone number is: 1-555-1682 have a good night, Bree. í (A/N not a real phone number.)

Wow, he has some really good handwriting. I wish I could write that good, I thought girls was always better than guys. Mmh. I thought.

I folded up his note and put it in my pocket. And went out to do the horses, I couldn’t wait for my date tomorrow, there was no way I was telling my dad though. But I still could not wait. Tomorrow is going to be GREAT!  I thought…
