If we truly are going to start with the usual storytelling, then let me introduce you Van. No, not short for Vanessa or Vangie. It's short for Vanilla. And the mocking reason behind this name is because why else won't a married Witch and Wizard couple name their Witchy child a very unique name? They compensated through their child because behold, their names are only Leo and Olivia—pretty common names, they thought.
It was in mid autumn and everyone was hustling in a small room of Brewsy's Rental; every single available relative of Leo and Olivia were coming and going to their aid because Van was just born. Olivia, who was seriously famished and thirsty, tried to conjure a slice of pie across the room.
"Oh, no, no," Jaunce, Olivia's older sister grabbed the pie midair and placed it on a plate and handed it to Olivia herself. "You're not allowed to conjure or perform any magic for now, sister. Orders from Healers themselves."
With this, Olivia rolled her eyes and let her sister spoon feed her. After munching for a bit, she inhaled heavily and looked around for Leo. She saw Leo at the corner of the room, sobbing quietly (and so he tried) as he cradled his newborn. He scratched his honey colored hair while his left arm continuously rocked the baby side to side.
He simply admired how opal-colored Van's eyes are; however he was pretty sure they're just shockingly blue, but with the help of purple and pink spots on her irises,he just claimed that they're opal. In case one wonders: no, neither Olivia nor Leo have the same eyes as Van's, but since they were a family of witches and wizards after all, why bother wondering about their origin?
"Oy, be careful, you might melt the babe," Olivia called out teasingly, surprising Leo from his calm focus on Van. He immediately sat beside his wife and together, they adored Van's common yet unique aura rising from her as the baby slowly closed her eyes, probably exhausted from her unlikely journey to our world.
There must be something wrong with the babe, however, for the couple and their relatives stood quietly and stared at Van; somehow anticipated a significant event for a newborn.
"What's going on? Has she got her powers yet?" one called out.
"Maybe she's a mortal? Damn it! This is because of your side of the family, I'm sure!--"
"H-How dare you!? The babe was born 10 minutes ago, do you expect a witch will just have their magic come up--"
"Why, of course, you dimwit!---"
"CAN YOU PLEASE SHUT IT?!" Olivia exclaimed, "Stop being too loud, will you? This ain't a debate class and I will not have this nonsense bickering about my child and her powers--"
"But sister," Jaunce calmly speaks, "The Knoxants will question this right away. W-We may be in Feathersuns, but they will make sure that newborns need to be registered immediately. I'm sure you know this." She says as she locked her eyes on Olivia.
Of course Olivia knew this, The Knoxants will see to it that their rules are abide regardless of how Witchcraft usually works. She and her sister knew for they have witnessed their...unforgivable ways sometimes and yet most witches and warlocks admired them for their regime. You see, in the world of Leo and Olivia, which is respectfully called Crescwall, the Knoxants is the main government which of course would lay out the rules and regulations to be followed by witches and wizards across the map. Knowing how crucial letting a newborn witch not being registered, Olivia pleadingly looked at Van, slightly relieved that her babe is breathing but somehow the anticipation for her daughter's eyes to reveal the foundation of her powers disturbed her more than anything else...
It had been a wrecking hour, and most of Leo and Olivia's relatives had given up, they made their way out looking and muttering sorry but later on would bring up a chin-wag once they arrive home. Leo furiously rubbed his temples as he looked out of the wide blurry window, hoping to catch one of their relatives' eyes and put a jinx on them.
"What do we do now, Leo?" Olivia tiresomely asked as she did her best not to give up on her sleeping daughter. Dozens of ideas had been running insider her head ever since the waiting, only to push them away and decided to rely on her husband, hoping for him to know the answer.
"We send her away to Grand Lilith, she'll know what to do--"
"Are you out of your mind? We're not even entirely sure that she's Van's real grandmother in the first place!" Olivia stroke Leo a cold stare.
"Grand Lilith will always be Van's grandmother, no matter what. I know you haven't let go of what has happened but if you can just--"
"Over my dead body, Leo--"
"PERHAPS we keep her, isn't that the best option?" Jaunce shockingly interrupted. As the couple stared at her in disbelief, she cleared her throat and straightened her posture.
"You, yourself said that The Knoxants--"
"I know what I said, sister. But having a blood of Plumé out there will not make a difference; as a matter of fact, it can make things worse... for all of us," she worryingly looked at Olivia.
With that being said, Leo and Olivia nodded in agreement of this uncertain strategy, for all realistic parents only wanted is to have their children be safe and sound and yet they, most specifically Leo, failed to notice that those seemingly shocking blue eyes truly are opal-colored, thus revealing the foundation of her power...
