"Jesse!" My friend Stevie called waving her hand in front of my face. I looked up annoyed "what Stevie?"
"You can't sit in your room all day and read that ridiculous book all day! I mean you have already read it four times today!" Replied Stevie with a huge gesture of her arms.
"I can do what I want, it's not like anything is demanding my attention today besides you." I growled.
She glared "actually there is, your dad is holding a mandatory pack meeting tonight, in like five minutes"
"Oh crap" I scrambled up, set my book down on my night stand and hurriedly got ready "why didn't you tell me sooner Stevie my dad's going to kill me"
"Well of you had quit reading that book isolated in your room all day you might know when we have major things going on" she teased heading for the door.
"Oh hush" I playfully glared.
We quickly rushed to the gathering room, when we got in the large room I got greeted by my father's disapproving eyes and the casual whisper conversations of the other pack members. I looked away from my father's stare and to my sisters who stood next to him with their mates they each gave me a sympathetic look as I sat down then looked to my father, I followed their gaze.
Everyone quieted as my father began to speak "welcome everyone you all must be wondering why I called you all here on such short notice, I recently received some wonderful news. The dispute we have had with the neiboring pack is coming to an end, I've spoken with the alpha and he has agreed to settle all issues if he is aloud to take my daughter Jessica as his mate."
Gasps filled the room but the most audible came from my best friend Stevie. I sat staring not knowing how to react when one of the males about my age stood up and hollered to my father "but she is the alphas daughter and hasn't even had the chance to mate with another, how will she know he's the one of he's the only one she's been with" as soon as he spoke I recognized him as one of the guys who was interested in me, Brady I believe is his name. Others in the pack began to agree with Brady and raising their voices to disagree with my father.
"Silence!" He hollered over everyone "there are sacrifices I need to make for this pack even if it means giving up my only daughter so we don't have to fight for our lives anymore then I am more than willing to do it" I silently stood from my seat and ran to the door not bothering to quiet the large slam from the heavy door. Running up the stairs and into my room ,I slammed my door, locked it behind me and leaned against it letting the tears fall silently.
The next morning came to quickly. One moment I was crying my self to sleep next I woke to sunlight streaming through the window. Sighing I roled over and climbed out of bed and headed to the bathroom. I turned on the shower then walked to my bathroom mirror and took a long hard look at my self "ok jess you can do this don't let daddy see how much this really hurts you, you'll meet this alpha guy when daddy tells you to, move in have baby's and never see your family again" tears filled my eyes and threatened to spill over, shaking my head I quickly stripped and stepped into the relaxing heat of the water. After what felt like half an hour i washed and climbed out of the shower, quickly threw on some clothes and went down stairs for breakfast.
Walking into the dining hall I sat across from my father and allowed them to serve me my food. We both sat in silence, chewing and looking everywhere but at each other, when my father broke the silence "Jesse the the alpha will be joining us for dinner and talking to us about the deal." I ignored him and kept chewing when he spoke again I could feel the power radiating from him "Jessica you will be there" I sighed "yes father". I left the table shortly after and spend the next few hours reading getting lost in characters and perfect love scenarios.
