Tomoko was a simple girl. She was the daughter of Ochako Uraraka and Tenya Iida, and was a third year at UA. She preferred to go by the name Mo most of the time, because she hated how her name sounded. It was too long and wasn't simple enough. Once she changed it to Mo, she felt like it fit her better. Mo was a very simple girl with very simple tastes.
Suddenly, everything changed. It started with a cough. A simple cough brought such a change. When the cough started, she was in class. It caught a lot of attention.
Her coughs were violent, and caught everyone's attention. The entire class looked at her when she started a coughing fit.
"Mo? Are you alright?" her teacher asked.
"Yeah, I'm alright," Mo nodded. "Sorry about that."
"It's alright, just make sure you're okay," the teacher nodded.
She lived with it for a while, thinking it was a cold or something easy. She was walking in the halls, still coughing a bit, when she ran into someone. The other person fell to the ground.
"Ah! I'm sorry!" they exclaimed.
"No! It's alright!" Mo smiled, offering her hand to help them up. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm okay," they nodded taking her hand. "My name's Coy."
"Mo, pleasure to meet you!" Mo beamed, before coughing again.
"Are you alright?" Coy asked. "That sounds pretty bad."
"No, I'm alright," Mo smiled. "Anyway, I should head to my dorm."
"Yeah, see you later!" Coy smiled.
They went their separate ways, and she lived on with her cough for a few more days. Then it started to hit Mo hard, she wasn't sure how to react. She was okay with having a cough so hard it hurt her lungs, or even just a painful throat, but it wasn't that simple.
Everything became harder for Mo when she started coughing up blood.
She went to the nurse right away after she saw the blood. She hoped the nurse could help, having a healing quirk and all.
She got to the nurse's office, and was greeted with her normal bright smile.
"How can I help you, Mo?" the nurse asked.
"I need a bit of healing," Mo explained. "I've been coughing a lot and I started coughing up blood." She showed the nurse her blood stained sleeve.
"Oh dear, that's not good at all," the nurse said, her eyebrows furrowing. "Here, have a seat. I'll heal you up and you'll be right on your way!"
Mo sat down and let the nurse use her quirk. They waited for a bit to let it all kick in, but nothing happened. Mo didn't get better. In fact, Mo started coughing worse than before. The nurse began to panic; her quirk had always worked before.
The nurse rushed her to the hospital, and called her parents. They both decided to meet her there. Mo was getting all hooked up to machines and such when her parents rushed into the room.
"Mo!" Ochako exclaimed. "Oh my god, I'm so glad that you're alright."
"I wouldn't say that yet," the nurse who was setting everything up said. "We're going to get our best doctors here. We're worried, we've never had anyone who wasn't responding to quirks before."
"I'm sure she'll be fine," Tenya beamed, wiping his eye a bit. "Why, she's an Iida! She's stronger than you think."
"Yeah, you'll be alright," Ochako smiled, taking her hand. "I believe in you."
