P.O.V of Alex

I sighed a long drawled out sigh. A breeze pushed my golden brownish hair in front of my face. It was in two long loose braids, one on each side. Yet, it still gets in my face. I turned into an alley, trying to take a short cut to school. I had just moved to this run down city, it was pretty sterio typical, but not the bustling NYC tpye, the graffiti on abandoned stores and a "gang on every other block" type. I reached the end of the alley, coming up to a fence with a large hole, big enough for me to get through. A minute later and I was on the other side, two blocks fom the school. Sucess. I thought as relief came over me. I wandered to the other side of the street, trying to be cautious of gang terretories. I knew this was stupid, but just thinking about it made me anxious. Making my way, i searched the street. I don't want to run into anything my first day of school. I can't believe we moved to this. I ranted in my head for a good minute about this run down city, I used to live in a peaceful neighbor hood, with some trees, next to a busy city that always seemed alive. Now i'm here. I added in my head the last word spiteful. I walked for a couple minutes, now about a block from school, my worry disapearing, no gangs in sight. I smiled to myself and let my guard down a bit. Just then, I tripped over a used and abandoned spray paint can, only half breaking my fall. "Ow!" I muttered, that totally broke my good mood. About to attempt getting up I heard voices. "What was it, leader?" I heard a guy shout from an alley about three yards away. "Just a girl." A voice said, only two feet away. Omg, omg, a gang!! What do I do? And their leader none the less!! "Well, you getting up?" The voice stated, impatient. "Y-yes!" I squeked, scrambling to my feet, head down, refusing to look at the guy. I heard more foot steps and looked up. Two more guys had appeared, I looked over them, one of the two was the tallest here, the other one just a bit shorter. I looked at the guy who was called "leader". He was hot. He wasn't the tallest or shortest. They all looked really strong. Then I noticed the next thing. "Hey, she wearing our uniform." The shortest said, pointing at me. Eee! I was so scared. In the distance I heard a bell. "Ah! I'm gonna be late!" I ran past them, "Wait!" The voice of the leader called, scared i tripped flat on my face. I heard the two laugh and the leader just look at me curious. Were they gonna mug me?! "Nooo!!" I said, running towards the school not turning back. I ran in, searching the hall for room E-5. "Found it!" I said, rushing through the door, the bells ringing seconds after. I took the one out of two seats left. "Alex West?" the teacher yelled, probably scanning the room for a boy. I sighed. "Here!" I called, the teacher looked up a bit surprised, then marked me down. Suddenly, roll call was interupted by the opening of the door. "Late on your first day......" The teacher muttered, dissapointed. "Your name?" He asked the student. "David Strong." I jerked my head up at the voice. It was him- the "leader". Whispers about a gang went around the room, as he took the last seat next to me. I felt him looking at me, I stared at my desk, refusing to acknowledge his presence. Why is this happening? I groaned inwardly. First day of school, start.
