Act 1, scene 1
(Ariel is fast asleep on a couch center stage slightly snoring
The scene opens with a radio station brocasting about how it continues to snow and there is already a foot of snow on the ground ariel slightly tosses in her sleep but does not stir.
Broadcaster: There seems to be atleast a foot of snow on the ground and growing. Maryland is in a state of emergency and it is highly suggested to stay off the road today. Baltimore county, Baltimore city, annerundel county, carrol county are closed. The temperature is 25 degrees. Flights out of Baltimore have started cancelation, many business have shut down and so has Baltimore government. (continues to talk but slowly becomes quieter as it moves to the topic of some current news reports)
(Erika enters stage right to the scene in a peter pan costume chewing gum, she is carrying clothes and dragging her suite case, she throws it down with a large clunk and begins to fold and stuff clothes into it, seeming very frustrated that she is again the only one doing anything)
(Zack walks in just sweat pants or a towel seeming stressed and walks straight over to Erika, he gives her arm a small tug and she looks back with a scold)
Zack: why are you even packing?
Erika: We have a place to be, and no little bit of snow is gonna stop me. I am determined.
Zack: Have you even looked outside?
Erika: What’s the point it’s only like what 3 inches? That’s not enough to stop our plane out of here. And you better get a move on in packing or we will be delayed like last time. And could you please wake every one especially Ariel her snoring is driving me crazy.
Zack: 3 inches? Try 12. (Erika stairs at him in amazement her jaw hangs open)
Erika: You are kidding me right?
(Zack looks down at the floor and shakes his head, Erika those down the clothes and stamps off stage, Katherine enters the scene from the same side Erika does. She is holding papers reading them aloud about flight cancelation seeming very tense)
Katherine: Our flights been cancelled.
Ariel: what? Cancelled?
Katherine: yeah theres to much snow on the ground
Ariel: snow? On the ground?
Zack: yeah.
Ariel: oh my I think I am just gonna fall back asleep
(Ariel lays back and after a few seconds you can hear snoring once again)
Katherine: what are we gonna do?
Zack: (flabbergasted) I don’t know, we didn’t buy any bread or milk or toilet paper. This trip is a disaster.
(Erika comes running back out, Asicia is following in a nightgown slightly rubbing her eyes and yawning)
