{ Amelie's POV }
The cab pulled up to the school and my little sister sits on the curb waiting for me. I open the cab door and she comes running up to me, arms wide open.
"Hey," I laugh as she hugs me.
"Come on we got to go, hurry get in." I tell her.
I quickly rush into and cab and demmand the driver to drive us to the hospital.
"what's going on?" Morgan asked.
Even though my sister's 11, she's more mature than people think. A eleven year old should be playing with her friends and not have to worry about her drunk mother that could be dead at any moment. Their minds should be filled with fun childhood memories but instead hers were filled with none. Our mom became an alcholic when Morgan was 11 months. We don't know what happened but she became stressed and drank, and drank. It's become worse and I think that's the reason why she's in the Hospital. Morgan's gone from living 10 years without a mother to almost getting a glass bottle thrown at her head. Sometimes I feel selfish that I had the childhood memories and she didn't. Sometimes wish she could have the memories as well.
"I don't know Morgan, mom's in the hospital," I tell her.
She starts looking at me with a blank face, and her eyes start filling with tears.
"no, no. Shhh. It's alright. Mom will be okay." I pull her into my arms, craddling her.
I hear a crumpling sound of paper. Morgan pulls away and looks down at her feet to see a shopping bag.
How do I explain to her that I hung out with Parker.
"What's this?" Morgan asked as she picked up the bag.
"It's nothing, just some clothes I picked up." I say.
She picks up the bag and I start getting nervous, trying to figure out what to tell her. Her eyes, wide open looking at the clothes. She starts holding the clothes, rubbing them against her cheek until the price tag pokes her. She looks at her and looks straight at me.
"how, how'd you afford these clothes? We can barely pay bills amelie." She says at me.
I take the bag and clothes away from her. "I hung out with some friends and went shopping."
"What friends, you barely have any." Megan Giggles.
"Okay fine. I had partners for this project and he invited me over. I accidently slept over and he took me to the mall to get some clothes cause im going to a youth group thing with him tomorrow."
I didn't want her to know it was Parker. She absolutely adored Parker and I don't know what I'd do if she knew. She knew about my fan accounts and my internet life and I dont want her to be part of the secret either.
"wait it's a boy?!!! Oooooh. Amelie has a boyfriennddddd." she squeels.
"NO! NO! nO! First, he's just my friend. No funny buiness happened last night either. Second, he would never, in a billion years like me back."
"WHY NOT! YOU'RE A VERY PRETTY GIRL!" Morgan yells.
"I love you." I laugh as I hug her.
The cab has came to a stop and I look out the window and see that we have arrived at the hospital. I took a deep breath and Megan opened the door and stepped on the curb.
"How much sir?" I ask the driver.
"That young man that escorted you out paid for your destionation of your choice and left and good tip aswell." He answered,
"oh, thank you." I say under my breath,
I try to disregard the fact that Parker paid for my trip without me knowing and I step outside the cab. I grab my sisters hand in one hand and my shopping bag in the other. I walk in the hospital building and I instantly feel sadness in the air. I see the reception desk in the distance and I freeze, fearing of knowing what she will tell me. Morgan tugs on my hand to shake me out of my daze and I suddenly snap back into reality.
I crouch down amd whispers into Morgan's ear "sit in those chairs right there and ill figure out where mom is."
She lets go of my hand and slowly walks to one of the chairs, fear in her eyes and her leg shaking like crazy. I walk up to the reception desk and a woman with a light pink shade of lipstick and greats me with a perky "hello!".
"What room is Grace Rose in?" I ask
"Room 418 on the 5th floor," She replies with a big smile, staring at me. "Could you also sign these please?" She hands me with a couple of papers to sign
"Thank you.." I awkwardly walk away after i finished signing.
I look at Morgan sitting on the chair and I call her, reaching my arm out for her to grab my hand as she grabs mine. She takes my hand and we walks down this long hallway to the evelvators. As we walk down the hallways, we see sad people walking past us and as more we pass, the more our hands sweat and the more anxious I get. We finally make it to the elevator and I press the number 5. We stand in silence waiting for the door to close until Morgan blurted out something.
"What if mom's not okay?" She says with watery eyes.
I kept staring down at her for a couple of seconds then i crouch down to her.
I look her in the eyes and say "Morgan, listen to me. Shes going to be okay."
I give her a big hug and shes trying her harest not to cry. The elevator door opens we walk out and search for room 418. I see it in the distance and I feel Morgan's hand start sweating. We approach the room and open the door. I then see Mom laying on the hospital with a oxgyen mask on and an IV connected to her. Morgan lets go of my hand and runs to Mom holding her hand and crying. I try so hard to hold in the tears but I know inside, I want to crawl into a hole and cry.
Someone walks in and I suddendly wipe my watery eyes and turn around to see it was the doctor.
"You must be...?" The doctor asked.
"I'm her daughter." I reply.
"Can you step out side for a moment please?" He asks me.
"Morgan? Can you stay with mom for a few minutes please?" I ask Morgan.
She nods her head and I follow the doctor outside. I stand in front of the doctor and crossing my arms until I finally look at him and ask "what happened?"
He began spilling out all the words that I didn't want to hear "About 12 hours ago, she had extremely drank large consummations of alcohol and has Alcohol poisoning. Your Neighbors had come over to drop off some things to find your mother unconscious on the couch with a slow heart rate and called 911. The oxygen masks are what are keeping her alive."
I swallow in fear and finally able to open my mouth "What are her chances of living?"
"65%"
I suddenly feel goosebumps form across my body and sweat breaking out from my back. The doctor hands me a stack of papers and says "I'm sorry." and walks away. I flip through the papers, reaching to the bottom of the stack to see a bill. $300 for medical expenses.
I cant pay this. We can barely pay for food in the fridge week by week. I look through the window and see Morgan sitting on her chair next to Mom, laying her head next to her asleep. Tears start building up in my eyes, I quickly wipe them off. This is all my fault. If I didn't let another boy in my life, we wouldn't be here now and it's all my fault.
My phone vibrates and it's Parker.
I threw my phone on the ground and start crawling into a ball on the ground crying hysterically.
