You could hear the screams from every direction. They surrounded you, suffocating you. They were everywhere. Another piercing shriek entered your ears, and you winced, forcing yourself to turn around. The only way you were going to get out of there was by choosing the right path, and even then your chances were slim.

You pulled your battered body off the ground, gritting your teeth as your bloody foot made contact with the stone floor. Balancing a shaky hand on the wall beside you, you stumbled forwards, towards the light you could see at the end of the hallway. With each step, smoke engulfed you more and more, clouding your vision. A few more steps and you managed to burst through the door.

However, almost immediately, you regretted your decision to head this way. The light you had been able to see was not the light of the outside- of escape. But rather, it was the light of burning flames. You would've turned away immediately, if not for the pained groans coming from two figures in the corner of the room. It took you a moment to spot them, trapped underneath a beam of wood.

"...(Y/n)..." The nearest one spoke. Their voice sounded strained- weak. "Get out of here..."

"Mum!" You managed a stifled sob, shaking your head.

She sent you a smile, her eyes watery. "Just go. Your father and I will be fine," The flames spread further, catching onto the beam above them. You edged forward, intending t help, when a flame flicked up at your ankles. You screamed in pain. "Go!"

Your weakened form limped back down the hallway. Looking ahead, you could see another set of flames curling around the corners of the wall. A tear slipped from your eye.  Why did this have to happen? Now, you were going to die, alone, flames closing in from both sides. You had left your parents in that room, and you didn't even know if your sister was still alive. Smoke swept across you, and you felt a wave of dizziness hit you. So, this was it, huh. You were going to die. You didn't fight it as you felt your body collapse, harshly smashing you into the cold stone below, or when your vision began to fade, the darkness closing in. As you lost feeling in your body, you remained completely still. Then, as you took the breath you were sure would be your last, you heard a shout.

"(Y/n)!"
