~ new king ~

beginning:

Jonghyun AU

The kingdom bell tower went off at noon, it was a peaceful day. Everyone in the kingdom was coming to the castle to see the crowning of the new king. It had been years that the kingdom had been without a king. it was finally time to step up and be king.
It was time, the time for a new king to rise and to honor. Walking down the isle to become king was one whom everyone was aware of.
"Kim Jonghyun, do you swear to be good to the kingdom and protect it from all harm?"
Jonghyun looked down at the crown, did he want to be responsible for everything? Did he want such a big title to his name? He took a breath, "Yes sir, I do."
People cheered on the new king, some in awe of his visuals some in awe of his bravery to become king.
And before he knew it, the crown was now on his head, showing he was king, he turned to his people and bowed.
"Good evening, kingdom of Beojkkoch. I am your new king, Kim Jonghyun. I speak before you to tell you that I will take this kingdom seriously and do my utmost to protect all of you. I hope you have trust in me to see that things will get done and done right. Thank you." He bowed to the crowd. It was now his time to shine, after his family rejecting the place as king, he had finally stepped up.
He walked down the isle, people bowing to their new king. "Y/n! Show respect to your new king!" Her father hissed. She found no use in showing dominance to someone else. She stood how she was, walking past her, Jonghyun noticed. He stopped before her and tilted his head.
"Are you new?" He asked, "Because in this kingdom we show respect, don't plan on getting any back." His eyes shining a warm brown color.
"Your majesty," Y/n's father stepped up and bowed. "I forgive my daughter's awful behavior towards you. Please forgive her." He bowed.
"I would like to see you both, come with me please." He put the guards to collect them and bring along.
"Wait." She said as she pushed a guard away from her. "Why should I do what you say when it looks as if you're the same age as me?"
"Well, I don't know what age you are, and because I am king. Please cooperate with me and do what I say." He stated in a sour voice.
When they got to the kingdom, Jonghyun was greeted to his younger brother and older brother. Minho and Onew. "Already have issues?" Minho asked as he saw Y/n and her father being escorted to the throne Jonghyun would now get to call his.
"Come on." Onew nudged Minho to follow him to where they could sit next to the king.
Jonghyun got to the throne and faced around to Y/n and her father before sitting down. If you never knew him, he had always sat so proper, and now it made him look of all more the part of king.
"You know why you're here, right?" He asked.
They both nodded their heads. "Your majesty, I sincerely apologize for my daughter. I don't know why she acted out like that. I'm very sorry. Please forgive her." Y/n's father pleaded in a full bow.
"I'm not sure either sir, but I would like to hear it from her herself." Jonghyun stated while sipping some water. "It has nothing to do with you sir, but all I am saying is that this is common respect. She clearly seems to be lacking at such. What should I do?" He asked his brothers.
"Give them a warning." Onew calmly said while eyeing Y/n."
Jonghyun looked over to Minho, "Teach her yourself."
"Hmm. Both such good ideas. Which one should I do..." He said tapping his foot. "Sir, if you are okay with this, I would like to appoint your daughter Y/n as a maid here in the palace."
Her father looked up at the king and his two brothers. "Why a maid your majesty?" He asked.
"This way she will learn to show respect to those whom are higher up than her. This will only be for a month or so. Think of this as her punishment." Jonghyun said looking at both of them.
Y/n scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Do you really think that I'm going to do everything you say for a month?"
Jonghyun glared at her, he had no idea what she had against him when she caused all of this. "I do actually. And I know you're going to obey me." He set his water down on the plate and got up to walk over to her. He bent down and made her look at him, "Just think, I have you and your father's lives in the palm of my hand. If I really wanted to I could easily end one. I don't know what you have against me but it's starting to really annoy me. So if you don't want that one life to be yours or your father's, I suggest you do what I say. Got it?"
She didn't want to admit the reason why she hated their family so much and why she had no respect for them. Their father was the reason of her mother passing away. She didn't know if they knew or not but she was going to keep her foot down until she felt ready to tell them.
"I got it." She muttered.
"Good. And while your at this job I would love to hear the reason why you hate me so much over something you did." He got back up and walked back to his throne and sat down. "You start your first day tomorrow. Be here by eight sharp. You both are dismissed thank you." He said as the guards led them out of the King's room.
They got home shortly after. "Why would you do that?" Her father asked. "Why did you act so stupid towards the King? This is his first day and look what he had to deal with."
"I'm not going to remove my grudge on that family until I feel it is ready. Their father killed mom dad. Do you have any idea what that does to me?"
"You need to let that go. Your mother used the King for her pleasure. Little did the King know at the time, but when he did, he was so mad that he ended her life. This all was your mother's work, she earned what she got. It's time to forget now and move on." He said as he walked out of the room. She had never knew the details until now and now she felt horrible on how she had behaved towards the King. She was going to make it up tomorrow and the rest of the month.
Tomorrow came and she was escorted to the King's room. She knelt down on her knees and waited for the King to come in the room.
Jonghyun had finished his hair as he stared at himself in the mirror. There was something about that girl that made her seem familiar to him, like he had seen her as a child or something. And that's when it hit him. Her mother had used his father for pleasure and was cheating on him. He and Y/n would go play together when either one was at each other's house. Usually his house.
He hadn't seen her in years. She would always have cookies for him, he knew she had a crush on him. Not so much now but he still had the same feelings.
He walked out, people who passed him on his way bowed and wished him a good day, him wishing the same to them.
He got to the throne and sat down looking down at Y/n. "What did you bring?" He asked.
"Cookies Your majesty. Please except them."
"Bring them here please." He ordered politely. She got up and brought them over to him bowing when she got to him. He got up and looked in the basket, they were the same ones as when they were little.
"You remembered."
"I can't forget."
He couldn't say anything. He pulled her into a hug letting the cookie basket fall and let out a slow breath, "I've missed you."
