The Origin of the Weeping Willow

Part One: The Beginning

Once upon a time there was a small village nestled in the valley of a glorius mountain range.

And in that village lived only the most beautiful of people. Nobody knew why it was so. It just was. Infants were born irresistibly cute. They grew to be handsome youth and aged ever so gracefully into adulthood and old age.

And among these folk, there was a girl named Willow. She was strikingly beautiful but in a way the town's folk did not understand. She was tall and thin. Not to a point of looking starved, but in a more poetic sense. Her cheekbones were sharp enough to cut glass, diamond even.

Her hair was long, brown and straight. Though she was not large busted, her curves were apparent. Her skin was a sun kissed brown that never seemed to fade. Even during the most bitter of winter months, her complexion never seemed to lessen.

And it was because of this unusual beauty that the people of the village shunned her so.

Until one day, someone appproached her.

He was tall, taller than her. His hair was black and curled tight as a spring. His eyes were green as the grass and his skin nearly as sun kissed as hers. His name, was Leon. They became great friends. Every day he would visit her and they would frolick the days away. Walks through the meadow at the edge of the village. Sitting and talking by the creek that ran through the village.

But never did they make their friendship public. For both Leon and Willow knew that should something like that become public knowledge, his reputation would be forever tarnished.

And so it went on like this for many years. And like any person would suspect, the two fell in love with each other.

Walks through the forest became tender kisses shared under the moon on a warm summer night. Talks by the creek became long hugs with no words needed to convey their affection.

But all good things must come an end...
