Jessica and I rushed into Kayla's Jeep Wrangler after school ended. She texted us that she had an emergency. Jessica sat in the passenger seat and I got into the middle seat of the car (In the back) so Kayla could easily see me in the rear view mirror.

Kayla looked at the both of us and then screamed at the top of her lungs.

Jessica gave me a look of concern and then said, "who is this crazy bitch who possessed our friend and what did she do with her?"

"Kay Kay, blink three times if you need help," I said while dialing 911 on my iPhone.

Kayla's faced turned bright red and she slapped the iPhone out of my hand. The phone fell onto the floor of the Jeep.

"I got accepted into Stanford. I got a full ride," she sounded like she was on the verge of tears.

We all screamed at the top of our lungs like lunatics not carrying about the onlookers staring at us with concern probably two seconds away from calling the police.

Then, we all embraced each other into a deep heartfelt hug .

"Im so proud of you Kay! You've worked your ass off for this and you deserve every part of it!" Exclaimed Jessica.

A tear escaped from my eye socket due to the realization that all of my friends were off to bigger and better things. Kayla off to Stanford, Jessica off to UCLA and here I am not even sure what my future is or what it holds.

I felt elated for the both of them but deep down inside I was jealous. Throughout the school years, Kayla was always the well liked rich girl, Jessica was the pretty girl who got all guys while I was just a sidekick only relevant for being their friends.

I always felt like I was a heavy weight, weighing them down and holding them back from success.

"Nomie, you ok?" Asked Kayla.

All of a sudden, all the attention was shifted to me and both set of eyes were looking at me. I hated it and how dare I steal this wonderful moment away from Kay? She deserves it and no one has time for my petty bullshit anyway.

I put on the best fake smile any seasoned actress would and nodded my head.

I said, "But I totally loved being the third wheel at your house on Friday."

I did the best thing I know how to do, divert the attention to something else.

Kayla perked up and then said, "Oh please. You and Ryder were upstairs for a long time and we're not dumb. We know what you two little dirty teenagers were doing!"

Jessica said in a low tone, "How big was it?"

I put my hand over my mouth in shock.

"C'mon Nomia, it's a legit question. We're your besties you can tell us anything, you know that," she poked at me.

"Listen, it doesn't matter because he hasn't texted me back since. Clearly his mo was to hit it and quit it and my dumbass just fell for it."

I knew I couldn't of been going crazy. I felt a deep connection with him but maybe that was just one-sided. He's in my 7th period class and he acts like I don't even exist. Makes me feel like I'm just a pile of air. Could just walkthrough it or see through it because in actuality it's nothing.

"Cheer up, lad. There are plenty of fishes out there and Zander just broke up with his girl."

My eyes lit up like a light bulb of opportunity.

"And how do you know this?"

"They both deleted all their couple posts together and Valentina posted to her story telling the world that she is single as a Pringle," said Jessica.
