"Remind me again why we had to move."
"Oh, hush up Sora! You already know why! If it wasn't for you going to-" Sibbly gets cut off. "Sibbly! That is quite enough out of you! Can't we at least try to get along? At least for the car ride?" George sighs. Everyone remained silent during the car ride, which gave me a chance to clear my head.
I didn't want to move from New York to California, but I had no choice. My sister is pretty annoyed about the move too, but she's more... Expressive. Her name is Sibbly. The thing is, she isn't my blood related sister. You see, I'm adopted. I've been in this family ever since I was 6. They are the only family I've ever had. My mother's name is Vanessa, and my father's is George. Sibbly is a year older than me. We don't get along too well, mostly because she teases me for being adopted into this family. My mom always tried to get her to stop, but she never did. In fact, I think that fueled her to do it even more.
But, other than my sibling and I not getting along too well and being adopted, I have a pretty good life. People accept me for who I am, and I accept who I am. I even have a boyfriend, we're trying long distance right now. And yes, I did say boyfriend. The truth is, I'm actually bisexual, and my friends back in New York accepted that."Kids, welcome home!" Vanessa gets out of the car and begins to unload many large bags. "Do pigs live here?" Sibbly can be very picky when it comes to this stuff. Honestly, she almost said that comment in a snappy and disgusted tone.
"Sibbly! Be nice to your mother! Your lucky you aren't living on the streets!" George is almost screaming at her. Sibbly mumbles, "That's where Sora should be..."
"Did you say something Sibbly?" Vanessa rushes through that sentence like she was in a panic. Sibbly didn't respond.
Our old house wasn't actually a house. It was a beautiful condo that had 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a living room etc. etc. It also had a stunning view of the Statue of Liberty. It was really pretty at night. There were so many lights I counted that I considered them stars. The only downside was all of the noise at night. Most nights, I got kept up til 2 AM because it was so loud. Our new house doesn't look nearly as nice on the outside as our condo did. It's painted a warm gray and some boards are peeling up from the floor of the patio. It's not a very 5 star rated house in my opinion."Sora! Earth to Sora!" Sibbly is basically screaming in my face. "Hello?! Sora!"
"Sorry Sib. I was spacing out." That's my nickname for her. Also, I was half lying, I didn't really want to listen to her rants today. She's already annoying me, and it's not even 11."Yeah yeah. And I told you not to call me that!"
"Like I care..." Honestly, I really don't. It's kind of payback for her teasing me all the time."Let's just go inside. By the way, I want the biggest room!" She always does this whenever we move.
"Whatever."To Be Continued
