Lies.

Shouji walked into the waiting room of the hospital. The overly clean, and acrid smell hitting him immediately, and putting him little bit on edge.

Making his way to the receptionist desk, he noticed all the patrons asleep or distracted. That was good for him, less people asking for autographs and stopping him from getting to Mineta.

Shouji placed a large hand on the surface of the desk to get the receptionists attention.

The beta working behind the desk jumped at the sudden approach, but relaxed when they saw who he was.

"Hello, what are you here for?", Shouji was glad the beta kept from announcing his presence to the sleepy waiting room.

"I'm here to visit Mineta Minoru.", Shouji answered in a quiet rumble.

The beta clicked away on their computer, frowning at the screen a bit, "I'm sorry, only family can visit him at the moment."

Shouji silently clicked his tongue at the irritating, but easily solvable, inconvenience, "I'm his mate.", it wasn't exactly a lie.

They stuttered out an apology, "Ah, sorry sir. Mr. Mineta is in room 402."

Shouji nodded, thanking the beta. Heading to the elevator Shouji thought to himself. Nobody really questioned alphas, huh?

All the better for him at least.

The elevator dinged, indicating he was at his desired destination. Shouji eyes roamed over the doors, checking for the one he needed. Walking as quietly as he couldcould as not to disturb the other patients.

Finding the room, Shouji shifted an ear and pressed it against the door. Listening for anyone inside.

He pulled his ear away, and shifted it back into a hand. Satisfied to have only heard Minetas deep, sleeping breaths.

Carefully clicking open the door, Shouji gently stepped inside. The familiar smell of sweet berries coming from Mineta easing the tension he had before.

Closing the door behind himself with equal gentleness, Shouji made his way to Minetas bedside.

He pulled a spare chair next to the hospital bed. Shouji reached over, and carefully took Minetas small hand into his large palm.

Minetas skin was uncomfortably cool to the touch, Shouji frowned to himself, the hospital blanket was too thin and the air too cold.

Rubbing the calloused pads of his fingers over Minetas soft knuckles, his eyes wandered to the smaller mans casted legs.

It was worse than he thought, from before it looked like the villain had only crushed one leg, but she got both of them and Minetas arm was bandaged from his shoulder down to his hand. Plus some minor cuts and bruises littered his face.

The familiar warmth of anger flooded Shoujis chest, he almost wished Shinsou wasn't there to stop him from his rampage.

Shouji pushed that dark thought into the back of his mind, he didn't want to distress any of these patients with the scent of his anger.

Instead he focused on Minetas lax face to calm himself. He looked so peaceful, soft lips parted for his small breaths.

A rush of affection went over Shouji, his cheeks tinted pink. He and Mineta were friends, but he never got a chance to study him quite so closely before.

Shouji laid his head down on the bed, next to the rise and fall of Minetas chest. Still gripping Minetas hand, Shoujis exhaustion caught up with him.
