Madelaine's POV
It has been a week since Vanessa and I went out, and we were going pretty strong. We aren't official yet but I really want to ask her out, but I'm scared that I'll loose my supporters and fans.

"What you thinking about, Mads?" My brother, Shaun, asked me. "Oh, nothing." I shrugged as Vanessa and Paige entered the room. "Miss Petsch." Nessa saluted. "Miss Morgan." I saluted back to her.

"So, the funerals in two weeks." Brooke gulped as she sat down next to Shaun. "Yep." Shaun nodded as Nessa sat down next to me. "How are you feeling about it?" Vanessa asked me softly as I put my legs over her lap. "It's... unreal." I shrugged to her.
"Mhmm, it is I guess." Brooke nodded sadly.
"It's life. It comes and goes before the blink of an eye. Enjoy it whilst it lasts." Shaun pursed his lips tightly. We all nodded.

"Hey, Mads?" Vanessa asked me an hour later.
"Yeah?" I replied as she entered my room.
"Wanna go out to a café?" She asked me with a nervous smile. "Yes." I immediately replied as I jumped up and followed her out of my room and down the stairs.

"Bye Shaun, bye Brooke, we're going out." I nodded to my siblings as I grabbed a jacket. "Have fun!" Brooke told me before we left the house.

When we got to be café, we sat down and ordered tea, paparazzi flashing cameras as we did so.

"They always know where we are." Vanessa whispered to me. "I know, it's frustrating." I groaned. "I just want to spend time with you... alone, and they're just following us." I continued sadly.
"Hey, look, it's ok." Vanessa smiled as she lifted my head up slowly with her soft fingers. "I know." I giggled as our tea arrived.

After we drank out tea, we walked outside of the café and sheltered ourselves from the paparazzi.

"Where's Travis?"

"Are you and Travis still going strong?"

"How are you and Travis?"

I started shaking at his name, but Vanessa's hand held my own, chasing away my anxiousness as she did so.

"Thank you." I whispered to her softly as we got into her car. "No problem, Mads." She smiled back to me.
I gazed into her eyes and she gazed into my own. I slowly felt myself leaning in, but when she began to lean in, I couldn't stop myself from forcing my lips onto her own.

The familiar and warm feeling of her lips dancing around my own made me melt into her arms.

We slowly pulled apart for air, out heavy breathing patterns filled the car.

We then smiled and I rested my forehead on Vanessa's.

Wow.

"Let's go home." She giggled after a little while as she pulled away and looked forwards. "Oh shit." She gulped. "What?" I asked as I looked forwards.

There was paparazzi.

Lots of paparazzi.

"Fuck, let's just go." I put my head into my hands before Vanessa drive off.

"I'm sorry." She whispered after a while of driving.
"It's not your fault. It's mine." I sighed as we pulled up into my house. "No, no, no, I kissed you too! You didn't just kiss me!" She countered as we got out.
"Then I guess it's both of it faults." I shrugged as we walked inside.

"What about our fans! They'll be asking about Travis! What if we loose them!" I panicked as I paced around my bedroom. "It'll be fine, Mads." Vanessa whispered. "No it won't!" I snapped.

It has been thirty minutes since we got home and none of us dared to look at our phones. Even though he several notifications every minute we're tempting, we managed to resist.

"I'm sorry." Vanessa whispered nervously.
"No, I'm sorry Nessa, it's not your fault. I don't know why I snapped at you. I'm just... scared." I admitted anxiously. Vanessa nodded.

"You do know we're gonna have to check our phones eventually." Nessa sighed after an hour of ignore the buzzes. "Yeah." I sighed back as I locked eyes with her.

"Ok, I'm gonna look..." Nessa edged towards her phone that sat on the cabinet. "Ok." I bit my nails.

Brooke and Shaun were out somewhere so we had the house to ourselves.

Oh god, we've got to explain it to them too.

"Ok, well, it's... not that bad." Vanessa's voice cracked. "Let me have a look." I sighed.
"Oh... um... nah..." Vanessa pulled the phone to her chest. "Why? Just let me look." I raised one of my eyebrows. "Mads, I don't think that's a good idea-." Vanessa was interrupted by me snatching her phone from her hands.

"Oh my god..." I whispered as I covered my mouth with one of my hands. I looked up at Vanessa who stayed silent. "Death threats?" My eyes began to well with tears. "Heterosexuals." Vanessa tried to joke.
"But when we kiss on Riverdale we don't get hate. Why's there a difference?" I asked Vanessa as loose tears dropped. "Because this is reality." Vanessa deadpanned. "This is all or nothing. Nothing is real in reality. Ironic right? You get the fake LGBT+ supporters that will say they would support us, but when it comes to the real thing, they're disgusted. It's life and we can't change that. Everyone has opinions and there's nothing we can do about it. But think of it Madelaine, there's millions of people out there that do and will support us. Brooke, Shaun, Choni and Madnessa stans, we'll be fine. We'll get through this. Just me and you. We'll march on." Vanessa explained as she held me in her arms.

"We'll march on." I whispered back to her.
"Mhmm, we'll march on, just me and you. We'll get through it together." She nodded to me.
"Together." I whispered shakily as I looked into her eyes. "You're so strong." I sighed to her as she smiled at me. "With you by my side, Mads, I feel strong enough to do anything. It feels like everything is possible when you're with me." She told me with honesty laced in every word. "Weird. I feel the exact same when I'm with you." I smiled a small smile.
"Huh, that's funny." She joked with a little grin.

There was another beep and I grabbed my phone and looked at the messages.

Message from Mia.McLaughlan: you and your fucking dyke friend deserve to die. Fucking loveless bitches.

Message from xx.Emily05: lesbians are sinners. You'll pay in hell, which won't be far away.

Message from _.Jasper._: how the fuck can you enjoy life without a man. You unnatural psychos.

Message from k.baker99: sleep with one eye open, dyke, we're seeking revenge for Travis.

"Hey, hey, look at me. Ignore them." Vanessa told me as she put her hand over my phone. "Bet you I can make you smile." She challenged me.
"Try." I sniffled as she softly stroked a tear away from my cheek. "Madelaine, I'm so sorry, but you have to know that the messages are wrong. You're not loveless, you're not deviant, ok? You're... sensational." Vanessa put on her 'Toni Topaz' voice and re-enacted the scene, placing her hand on top of mine. "You're extraordinary." I giggled delicately back. "You're incredible." She told me.
"You're beautiful." I told her with a smirk.
"You're gorgeous." She challenged me.
"You're stunning." I countered.
"You're perfect." She whispered.

My eyes widened.

"And that's why I love you." She continued with tears threatening to drop from her chocolate eyes.

My heart skipped a beat.

"I love you too." I sobbed as tears flooded my face.
