As you peer distantly into the eyes of a distant figure, you see all that is reflected. A smile, a hearty laugh, a forgiving stroke of your chin, all are reflections of what you wish to see. What is not reflected is what hides within plain sight. The distant words whisper within your ear… “You deserve no one, you only deserve death”. This saying haunts you as it's distant voice echoes, first distantly then gleefully, then violently shout. “Run” it calls. “Run”. As you move further and further from this shambled being within human bonds, the closer it is drawn to you.
This reflection you see is but a image of what is wished to be. A dream you see, thoughts of your own imagination, gleefully, joyful, all rolled into the human bonds. “Come closer….” it beckons to draw you near. “Closer. It's voice yet again a distant echo. It's hand soft, it's touch tender reaches out and strokes your chin. “Closer” it beckons once more.
Your heart pounds within your chest as it's tender touch becomes a harsh cut upon your cheek. “Stay….stay with me” he calls as it's hand moves gingerly along your neck, it's touch tender once more.“Stay” it hisses as you feel the warmth leave your neck and began to drip onto your hands.
This reflection flickers once more as it's soft lips eagerly greet yours within a warm embrace as you feel the warmth bubble as it begins to surge within the back of your throat. It's lips part from yours as you are left with the warmth now staining your lips as you struggle to peer beyond the haze that begins to cloud your eyes. “Look at me” it calls as it's tender embrace grips your cheeks and tilts your head to peer within its eyes once more. “Look” it's voice calls as your vision is now but a dim light within a ever darkening void.
It calls to you once more as it shakes your head violently to take your attention once more.
“To all things and men I appertain, and yet by some I am shunned and distained.Fondle me and ogle me til you’re insane, but no blow can harm me, cause me pain. Children delight in me, elders take fright. Fair maids rejoice and spin. Cry and I weep, yawn and I sleep. Smile, and I too shall grin.” The words it then parts you with as your vision slips into the void as it's harsh grip takes ahold of you. Your body drained of warmth, frozen still in time, all that remains is the reflection of what is left behind.
