Clock reads '1:30' and is counting down the final minute and a half of the game. You're down by 3 and know you are going to lose. Yet you keep playing and fighting like there's lots of time left. We the fans wonder how you can do it; Play, knowing that the victory is in the hands of the team and not yours. We wonder how you keep your composure and manage to play a clean game. Then we remember, that's what kind of team you are. You fight with all you got no matter the time left on the clock, no matter if you're winning or losing or even if your gased beyond belief. You are determined to keep going regardless of anything because of your love for the game. Not letting the emotions of the game consume you and affect your play. But letting them fuel you to keep going cause you're doing what you love.
That, that's what we as fans admire in you as a team. Not stooping to the low levels of some dirty players or whining like others. But taking things at face value and rolling with it. Yeah you lost in game 7 for the third year in a row and yeah you wish it went a different way. However, you cannot forget how you presented yourselves on the ice. You guys were outstanding and gave it your absolute all and went out on a high note.
We the fans are tremendously proud of you guys no matter what, because in the end you may not be the Victor's bit you are winners. You came, played and had fun in your last game. Us the fans will always stand behind you. That's what makes Toronto so strong, out ability to unite through tough times or great times.
I just want to say thank you, for another great season. For another great reason to be a lead fan. To be proud of my home team. We the fans are honoured to wear the leaf Crest in our chest and cheer even though we lose. All because of you guys and how you represent the game.
So we simply thank you.
Sincerely,
Shyanne, a proud leaf fan since day 1.
