◈ two ◈

[real life]

it has been a week since the first group meeting and things appeared to be going quite well for the teenagers that attended the session. jack wasted no time making the groupchat on imessage and has been spamming them ever since. it would be about nothing in particular; maybe his opinions on alpacas or pictures of him making ramen at three o'clock in the morning. he even got corbyn to loosen up a little bit around them through texting.

as for right now, the entire group was sitting at their table in the cafeteria, eating their lunch.

"i watched this girl drop her iced coffee on my way to class and the only thing she said was i am so sick of being alive," daniel grinned as he raised his sprite up to his lips, taking a gulp of the cold beverage.

"i saw that too," jack laughed. "it was a mood, bro."

ella redirected her attention to alana, who was peering down at her phone screen, her light pink lips curving up into the happiest smile as she texted whoever it was. almost as if she could read her mind, kamilla nudged ella and nodded towards jonah. he was texting as well and had the goofiest grin plastered across his face.

"alana and jonah are whispering," zach sing-songed, drawing all of the attention on the two of them.

it was almost as if the two were in a little world of their own, considering the fact that neither of them even looked up from the screens of their phones to acknowledge zach. nothing else seemed to matter at the moment.

"aren't they just adorable?" nova gushed, gazing at alana and jonah before returning her undivided attention back to the rest of them. 

corbyn scoffed, "please. it's been one fucking week."

"it's called true love!" jack announced, slamming his water bottle down on the table. now this, however, did catch the attention of both alana and jonah. about half of the cafeteria was snickering about jack's sudden outburst but he couldn't care less. none of the lingering gazes phased the teen.

"again, one week. just one," corbyn stressed his point, holding his index finger up. "not possible."

"that all depends though," fayre piped in, "previous studies have shown that if a person has a crush on another person for longer than four months, it is no longer a crush. it means that the person has fallen in love."

"wait, what now?" jonah asked, confused as to what was even going on at this point.

"that's not love, fay," corbyn chuckled, shaking his head as he raised his spoon to his mouth, taking a bite of his macaroni and cheese.

"i think that's a matter of opinion," kamilla shrugged, causing most of the group to nod in agreement.

"it hasn't even been four months though. so, even that doesn't add up," corbyn concluded.

"just because they haven't been talking for four months doesn't mean there hasn't been any crushing going on," jack pointed out, snapping his fingers in a 'z' formation about two inches from corbyn's face.

"what? no. i don't have-" alana started, her cheeks fading into a light shade of red before jonah jumped to her defense.

"why don't we just talk about something else?" jonah proposed, "which reminds me, what about those big plans for tonight?"

"netflix night," ella confirmed, clinking her water bottle against daniel's juice box.  "all night long."

"is it a casual get together or a sleepover? i have to know just in case i need to bring my pillow pet and snuggie," jack asked ella, a complete and utter serious expression etched across his face.

"sleepover for the girls," kamilla answered, high-fiving fayre from across the table.

"excuse me? but it was my idea," jack protested, placing his hand over his heart in an extremely dramatic manner as he shook his head in disbelief.

"we're just messing with you," nova giggled, taking a bite of her chip before clasping her hands together.

"or were we?" ella asked, laughing as jack started to freak out all over again.
