I did not realize the gravity of the situation. At first, I thought people were being dramatic. As the days passed by, I had what seemed like little movies of memories with him. I remember that moment when he came home from work and I went running into his arms; I was not going to have that anymore. That’s when it hit me. HE WAS GONE! HE WAS NOT COMING BACK! I was not going to hear his laugh or watch him pull pranks on my dad. I was not going to hear his life stories about how his father left him when he was younger, about when he passed cold winter nights in New York using only newspaper to warm himself up and him saying that he went through all that and yet he was still successful. He owned Nike for awhile and later owned an insurance company. Those stories only remain in my memories and you can trust that I will let my kids know about him.
I am going to take you back to when all of this pain started.
