Chapter 3: New Friend? Mysterious Creatures?

Knock! Knock! Knock!

There was something or someone at the door. Scuffle! Scuffle! We all looked at the door with our heart beating in our mouths. Whatever it was, began to move around the house.
Mackenzie slowly picked up a pan and help it like a tennis racket. I portrayed a mantis kung fu like move and Caroline flipped a dagger from the inside of her bag. I gave them signals to move closer to the door.
Before we could even take one step, the door handle began to turn.

Click! Click! Click!
The door flew open

We screamed at the top of our lungs,
"ayy, quieten down, what's popping!" a girly voice spoke out coming from the figure standing in between the door. I opened my eyes and made the
🤨 Face like shouldn't blood be coming from our necks now?
"nah, I'm not a monster you know!" the voice said again.
"how do you know what I'm thinking" I said shakily trying to sound big as the figure began to walk towards us.
"I'm not human darling" the voice said and I assumed it's a girl due to her silhouette.
"wh-wh-who are you!?" Caroline yelled angrily but her voice shook.
The lights lit brighter and the figure who stood there was a girl, so beautiful I've never seen someone with such beauty. Her hair was long and thick, her skin pale yet clear and she had a nice figure.
" woah, I was expecting a ugly troll" Mackenzie laughed.
Caroline and I rolled our eyes and laughed.
The girl was laughing too, but her laugh was scary. We stopped and looked at her.
"haha, lemme introduce myself, I'm Lori, I'm a citizen of the city of Middle empire, Nachtelijke Island, that is the main district and richest may I add" Lori said.

Mackenzie looked at me and I was lost, she  was nice yet there was something weird.
"ah I'm 16 how about you guys?" she said cheerfully
Caroline " 16"
Me "15"
Mackenzie "15"
"WHY! Are you here?" Caroline said aggressively.
"oh well well well, if it isn't a pureblo-" Lori said intimidating her but was caught of by horn.
What has gotten into Caroline why is she acting differently all of a sudden?

Lori blew a mist which glowed a light lilac, all the torches went out and the windows.
As I was about to say something, Lori silenced me and told us quietly. "there a creatures of all sorts on this island from those in physical form to those beyond the grave but the ones which rule this island are the vampires"
"Vampires?! " Mackenzie whispered loudly.
"yes, and I'm one b-" she said but we cut her off with our screams
Arrgghhhh! She shhhed us and continued. "there are 5 districts but a ruled by a pure blood king and queen. The district I come from is the highest these are the names remember them.
1ST - Middle empire
2nd - Antin empire
3rd- Sodom kingdom
4th - sunden moon light
5th- Valley of shadows."
Mackenzie was snoring, she had fell asleep on my shoulder, I let out a little chuckle and looked to Caroline who had a intensity of concentration.
" awe, cute - there are also 6 levels of vampires, ill do highest to lowest = pure bloods, aristocrats, vampires, slonisers, dead beasts and lost souls.
The last to can't control their self's so they are dangerous yet can be killed easily."
When I say my mind had never heard of such, I was in the mood to explore this." this is a interesting piece of information " I whispered.
" not interesting the truth" Caroline said harshly. I rolled my eyes and my blood began to boil, what is wrong with her, I don't know what gotten into her head that she gas become a BITCH!
"what are you then" Caroline demanded.
"watch your tone with me and I'm a aristocrat, I'm the queens advisor's daughter" Lori replied, looking up at down at Caroline.
"whatever but why do we have to be so quiet?" I asked
Lori answered me saying "because it's night and you know the horn you heard" I nodded "they know that people have crashed onto here and they caught them and their is going to be a feast in the northern lands, all nobility is invited the citizens party for one week and then there is war."
"what the hell?" I said shocked at all this information.
Caroline was lost in her mind and the aura from her was filled with anger. But I didn't care she needs to fix her attitude right now.
"they have finished hunting now, I'll take you to the town tomorrow and bring you clothes to blend in." Lori said As she stood up to leave.
"thank you" I said as I looked up she was gone and only a rose was left.

"my time to rise and shine" Caroline whispered and laughed quietly.

Something fishy is going on here? But I can't put my finger on it.
