It was an accident.
It was supposed to be a simple salt and burn.
A ghost was terrorising a couple and their child. So you and the Winchesters went out to deal with it.
It was easy finding out who it was, the only trouble was hunting down the body. It had taken a little longer than you all expected but you had burned the body and the family was safe. Or so you all thought.
When you got to the house to tell them the good news, you were shocked to find the door slightly open. Instantly you and the boys knew something was off, so you all pulled out your guns and slowly headed forward. You all noticed the blood on the floor and your eyes widened, you tried to prepare yourself for the worst. But nothing could've prepared you for what you saw.
Both the parents lay dead on the floor, with multiple stab wounds to each of them. And then there was the child, a little girl no older than 5, lay strewn across the coffee table with more stab wounds than both of the parents combined. The brothers searched the house whilst you just stood there, Silent, Staring. You cant stop looking at the little girl, she just lays there, her brown eyes wide with fear.
"I found a trace of sulphur at the back door" you hear a voice from behind you, you don't even turn around to look at him. You focus on the girl, you focus on her eyes. The shade of brown, The shape. You focus on her face and you think about what she would have looked like when she grew up. You wonder what she could have grown up to be.
You feel a large hand rest on your shoulder and you jump, not expecting anybody to be near you.
"Woah, you okay?" You look at Sam and nod, forcing a small smile onto your face.
"We should probably get going before the cops show up." Sam wraps his arm around your shoulders and you all exit the house and get into the impala. The drive is not as quiet as you would like it to be. Dean's music is blasting loud, and him and Sam are having an argument about something stupid , but you aren't paying attention. You are staring out the window, Your own music is blasting through your headphones lost in your own head. So lost that you almost didn't even notice the blue eyed man appear next to you, you just stared out of the window, watching everything pass.
You look down at your phone screen as you receive a text message from Sam.
FROM: SASQUACH
Did you seriously not notice Cas just appear next to you?
You look to your right and notice the man sat next to you.
TO: SASQUACH
I noticed, just didn't think it was my business.
FROM: SASQUACH
Are you okay? You've been acting weird since we left the house.
You see Sam turn to look at you and you nod your head. You weren't okay, but you wouldn't tell him that. He was your best friend, you could tell him anything. And you normally would, but this is something you have to deal with alone.
A couple hours go by and the guy is long gone, Dean pulls into a motel parking lot.
"would you guys mind if I got my own room for tonight" your voice comes out small, weaker than you intended but the boys still hear you. Dean goes to say something but stops when Sam gives him a less than subtle look. You all get out of the impala and dean goes and pays for the rooms whilst you and Sam get the bags out of the car.
The rooms you get aren't bad, I mean you've defiantly had better. But you've also slept in worse, Far worse. You throw your bag near the foot of the bed and close the door behind you. The moment the door slams shut its like a dam breaks. Your body slides down the door and you sit on the floor, Tears are slowly fall down as you put your head in your hands, silently crying. Your breathing is shallow, and you pull your knees up to your chest attempting to slow your breathing down. You cant stop seeing them. Its mostly the girl, you know bad things happen to people. Hell some pretty bad things happen to you. But she was just a little girl, she wont get to grow up now, she wont get to make a life for herself.
" Sam and Dean wanted me to introduce myself I'm Castiel " He looks at you curiously "Your crying, Why?" You sigh and wipe your eyes.
" A case we had today, a kid died and.. I guess it affected me more than it would've if it was an adult"
" If it helps I'm certain that child will reside in heaven"
"That, actually did help. Thanks Castiel"
