I am August, a seventeen year old transgender female, I'm tall, short black hair, blue eyes, and one dimple. My parents kick me out of my house for being transgender, they're homophobic, which means they don't accept the LGBTQ+ community. They left me with nothing except for the clothes on my back, luckily there is a shelter for these types of situations. I walk in and my anxiety level rises to the roof. I get lost in thought and get startled by this little short girl, with brown eyes, long blonde hair, dimples, freckles and glasses. "Hi stranger, I'm Alexis, Alex for short. What's your name?" "I'm August, nice to meet you Alex, why are you here exactly?" "My parents kicked me out for being pansexual, what about you?" "I'm a transgender female and they didn't like that, my old name was Alan but I never liked that name anyways." "Well August, let me show you around and introduce you to everyone" Alex starts showing me around, and it's wonderful here, full of love, acceptance, and it's only my first night here! I don't need my parents, all this love will be fine for me, I may have a new family here, I'm just glad I have at least one friend. You know what, just looking around at all the smiles, acceptance, the pride, I may actually like it here. I fit in perfectly, I think this is my new home.
