“What are you thinking about Monty?” Sebastian struggled to climb up the rocky hillside beside his friend. His young limbs, just starting to pull and stretch, always seemed to tangle beneath his body, out of his control.
“I don’t know,” replied Monty, running his fingers through his long, dark hair. Sebastian couldn’t help but long for the ease, with which Monty moved, every limb seeming to obey his command.
“That’s silly.” Sebastian’s laughs came in short bursts as the climbing had taken a toll on his breath. “You must be thinking something.”
“Have you ever kissed a girl, Seb?” Monty asked, stopping suddenly on the hill. Sebastian had to grab hold of a tree branch to stop himself from tumbling backwards.
“No. Have you?”
“No. That’s what I was thinking about though.” Monty now turned to face Sebastian. “Can I ask another question?”
“You just did.” Sebastian laughed, and straightened himself up, still using the tree branch for support.
Monty rolled his eyes. “Have you ever kissed anyone?”
“No. I just said that Monty. Weren’t you listening?”
“But that’s not what you said.” Monty sighed and turned back to the trek up the hill. His legs stretch far in front of him carrying him quickly away from Sebastian.
“What are you talking about?” Sebastian insisted, running after him. “Monty that makes no sense.”
“Of course it does. Think about it for a moment.” He refused to say anything else about it.
But Sebastian was having too much trouble concentrating on getting his limbs to follow to think about anything else. “Where are we going Monty?” Sebastian asked, again out of breath.
“We’re almost there. You’ll see in a minute.”
