We all waited impatiently in our seats until the bell went and we were dismissed.

"Hey Eddie are you coming swimming with us today? It's the last one until they close for 4 weeks- they're replacing the current manky pool with a shining new one!" Called Nathan as we squeezed through the doors, getting crushed by year 11s in the process.

"Course! Where are we meeting the others?" I replied.

"Outside the pool entrance!" He answered his voice loud so I could hear him over the rowdy, shouting crowd.

"Oh no! My phone's on 5%! Eddie can I text my mum on your phone please? I forgot to remind her that I'm going swimming." April said as she tucked her mousy, waist length hair behind her ear and smiled at me, her grey/blue eyes sparkling.

"Sure, here." I handed her my phone, "don't drop it!" I called after her but I don't think she heard me. April had a hearing problem, she could only really hear you if you were standing right next to her and speaking at a reasonable volume. Whispering in class wasn't an option for her, if you called her name from the end of the hall or other side or the road; unlikely you'll get her attention. But that didn't make any difference to the fact I thought she was beautiful, funny, clever, sprightly... I had a crush on her, a massive one. She just had an amazing personality and I really really liked her. Have done since..... Well year 4 actually. We went to the same primary school and now we're in year 8 in the same secondary.

"Come on guys it's 3:55! 5 minutes before it starts lets get changed." Ellie announced, hurrying everyone into the reception. We all got our money out and queued behind one another.

"Hello how can I help?" Sighed the girl behind the reception desk. She was smiling but her eyes seemed tired and glared at each one of us as if to say: please say you're the last ones in here! I won't to go home now!

Nathan payed, Ellie payed, then Ali, then Cordelia (everyone called her Lia for short) then Jess and finally April, who was still fumbling around in her bag, was at the desk.

"Oh my god Eddie I left my money at home!" She said.

"Don't worry, I have enough to pay for both of us." By this time the receptionist was quite irritable,

"Thank you so much!" She exclaimed.

"Right so you're paying for both of you yeah?" She typed something into her computer and grabbed the money from my palm.

"I'm gonna need to take a name and address please," she added glaring at me.

"Eddie Limestone, 18 Shakney street OH7S 5KE." She typed that into the computer as well before notifying us that it would be starting in 1 minute and we were free to go.

"Ah!! Oh my goodness you idiot, Lia! You just knocked my brand new shirt onto the wet floor! That was £24 from American Apparel you know!" Shrieked Ellie, carefully collecting her shirt off the ground and cradling it as if it was a baby. I didn't feel too good at all... My stomach was churning and my head spinning.

"Ugh... I think I might faint or something..." I croaked but for a change it was them that didn't hear me. Either that or they just didn't take any notice.

"I'm gonna go to the loo," I told them and they murmured acknowledgements.

I knelt down on the floor with my head over the mouth of the toilet. My stomach tightened and I threw up. I heard Ellie's and Lia's voice getting quieter as they walked away. Jess must still be here though.

"Jessie?"

"April are you alright?"

"Yeah I'm fine, um.. I just remembered I gotta do something before I go home can you let Eddie know I won't be walking home with him please? You guys can head off without me." I wasn't going to tell her I was being sick, she didn't need to know. I was fine.

"Ok sure. I'll see you tomorrow then- love ya!" And that's the last thing I heard before blacking out.

A/N

Heyy 😀

So this is my new story- it's completely made up not based on any experience or anything. Totally fiction. This is quite different to anything I've ever written before, I just read this book and really really enjoyed it so I thought I would write in that kind of genre too. This is a sort of detective, mystery book but for the sort of early teen group I wouldn't expect any grown ups to be into it. And yeah that's pretty much it really don't have anything else to say other than please vote and comment! I love to know what people are thinking about my book I also love suggestions and ideas so fire away!

Enjoy 😝 ~ Ruby ~

P.S. For those of you who don't know, 'P.O.V' stands for 'point of view' . So if it's Eddie's P.O.V it means Eddie is the one telling the story at that moment.
