01. Watch

Jareth looked into the crystal in his hand, pictures moved from inside it and he could almost hear the song that accompanied it once more. He saw Sarah searching vainly for the familiarity of him and almost smiled.

But the image changed, she was glaring at him fiercely through her eyes, their fiery depths piercing him. She was filled with contempt. She hated him, and he didn't know why... he had done everything she'd asked. Why didn't she see it?

He had offered her everything, all she had to do was do as he asked and he would be hers. Everything would be hers... and she, she would be his. He asked for so little. Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave.

Why didn't she just listen? He would have given her brother back, she would have everything she desired and he would have her. The Labyrinth would have had its queen, if he had been willing to share. Now all he could do was watch from afar as she went through her life, slowly growing older.

He knew soon he would not be able to bear to watch her, but in the end that was all he could do, because he could not save her from death if she did not want to be saved.

02. Music

She could still hear his song and she still sighed at the thought of what could have been. There were times when all she heard was the song from that dream so long ago and each night she would always hear him sing it once more.

03. Window

He never understood why she never shooed him from her windowsill, and perhaps he would never find out. But, somehow, he became the one that was always there for her; somehow he became the comforting presence that she would later take for granted. He never understood why she never shooed him from her windowsill, but maybe it was for the best that he didn't.

04. Book

She couldn't help but blame the book, it had started everything. It had led her to the Goblin King, it led her to a life of lost love and sorrow... and yet, she couldn't help but cherish the memories it gave her - the good and the bad.

05. Memory

All she had ever since then were the memories of him, what she could have had and her journey. She had grown up since he shattered her fairy-tale view of the world, but still he left her only with memories and a small spark of hope that he may take her away one day and she won't ever return.

06. Choices

She had always had a choice; she had chosen not like Karen, she had chosen to stay in the rain to play 'Labyrinth', she had chosen to argue. She had been faced with many decisions concerning Toby that she did not wish to make and they all were because of him, the Goblin King.

He had given her so many choices between what was right and what was easy... and all those times she was so close to giving in. She had been a spoilt, stupid little girl who believed the world was fair and just, he had shown her differently and all she did was scorn him for it.

In the end, it all came down to choices and, though she made the right ones, she didn't feel any better for it. Because, somewhere, in the castle beyond the Goblin City, Jareth was hurting and that made the choices completely and utterly wrong.
