Laying next to you
So peaceful, so calming
As we lay in silence,
The only sound is us breathing
A sound interrupts our quiet state
The ping from your phone gathers our attention
You look at it, and you answer,
And then place it back onto the table without any mentionA million thoughts rush through my head,
What could possibly be so important,
That you had to answer right then,
But still so insignificant?
As my mind wonders with "what if's"
We go back into our quiet state
Should I question you?
Or leave it up to fate?Against my better judgment,
I go ahead and pry
I asked who texted you,
And I asked why.
You paused, then replied
"Babe, don't worry about it"
But it was pretty clear
You just didn't want me to throw a fitIt's hard to look at you the same,
Thinking of all the possibilities
I don't understand why you couldn't tell me
Why did you turn from your responsibilities
Trust is most important
If you don't have it then why try
The worst part of it all
Is somehow I'm the bad guy~h.g.
