Prologue :

( 31/12/2011 , 2 : 35 A.M )

Dear Diary ,

" My english teacher once told me that life is balanced between good and bad things , but I believe that life's not fair at all ! Who's the guy that said this and infected our minds with the idea that everything is balanced !? I think that he should be hanged , or should have been ! And I'm not being evil , it's just that my life is more than complicated right now . . .

Dad's missing for 4 years and school's just bad ! I can't believe it has been a whole week since my mom made a stupid mistake of marrying a jerk ! He looks suspicious , and bleah ! I don't even wanna imagine him "shooting" my mommy in bed ! I call him " H.I.M " because I don't want to call him by his name . I just miss daddy so much , and H.I.M can't take his place , nobody can ever ! "

This was Audrey's Journal Entry for the last day of December , after the New Year's fireworks . She is a sixteen year-old teenager , living in Los Angeles with her mother , Anne , a music composer , and her 4-year-old brother , Daniel . A whole new year was up ahead , a year in which Audrey's life would change . After her father left her mother because of all of the fights , shouts and insults , the Andersons moved to a new house on the other side of L.A . Accommodation is going more than well now that Audrey's one of the most popular girls at East-Los Angeles High , Anne's wage is perfect , and Daniel is in a safer environment . About one year ago , Anne met a guy named Jack Jones that makes her feel special ! After a few dates and lovemakings , Jack finally proposed ! A week ago the ceremony took place and he's already moved in with his new family ! He's financially perfect and good looking , but Anne isn't after the money , she's actually fallen in a deep trance of romance , again . . .

As the moon above light up the night sky , a car approaches the Anderson's , or now called Jones' , driveway . Jack , Audrey's step-dad , just came home from work , late night as usual . But this night won't be similar to any other , for he looked pissed !The front door slammed gently ! Audrey could hear it but didn't mind it , knowing that it could be nobody else than "H.I.M" , her mom's new husband , whom she totally hated ! She heard footsteps going up the stairs through the hall and in her mother's bedroom !

" I hope he's not horny ! Not in the mood of hearing some dirty moans right now ! " said Audrey as she continued to write in her diary . Past the hallway and in her mother's room , Jack was standing there , still fully dressed with an evil smile on his face ! He wasn't going to sleep , in fact he made sure his wife was sleeping and so was his step-son .

" Perfect . . . " he mumbled and then walked out of the room , slowly closing the door behind him . He had a plan !Audrey was still writing in her diary when a voice from behind her , murmuring her named , scared the hell out of her ! She covered the notebook only to realize that her step-father was at her back . She sighed , rose , and put the diary under her pillow where she had always kept it . She finally turned around and said :

" Hey , What's up . . . dad ? " trying to act cool and calm . " What does he want now , to rape me ?! No thank you ! " she thought .As she saw his motionless mouth doing nothing but smiling , she glanced downwards to his hand and saw that he was holding a big knife , tight in his hand ! She screamed , and backed off . . .
