Embry stormed into my room, his face bewildered. I was sitting on my bed, doing the biology homework that I totally did not put off to the last minute.

"Get up," I raise my eyebrow at his sudden order.

"Embry, I don't have time for your antics. My biology grade is suffering immensely." I go back to writing down some notes that I highlighted in green so I would remember.

It was hard to keep up with my homework and extracurriculars because of the whole turning into a wolf thing. I was barely sleeping since Sam was doubling up on patrol, regarding my protests for my academics.

I never liked school in general but, I always had this insane need to come out on top, no matter the situation. I was determined.

Paul has been visiting even though he was supposed to be on patrol, Sam once caught him but he didn't seem at all bothered. Paul and I weren't official so it didn't really matter. I knew I wasn't doing anything wrong, Paul was his own person and he could hang out with whoever the hell he wanted to. Jennifer still had the hots for him even though he's been dodging her calls. I felt like such a bad person, I wasn't telling my two best friends what was going on. I just couldn't, for now.

"He phased," Embry's voice exasperated as my head shot up, my eyes meeting his in realization.

And here we were, waiting at the edge of the forest. I leaned against a tree, the bark digging into my clothed back. Embry stood across from me, his head tilted back in boredom. The rain caused his hair to stick to his forehead in an unkempt manner. My hair was most likely nothing different.

Just as a drop of crystal-clear water appeared on my fragile skin, I smiled to myself. The rain was something that stopped my thoughts from buzzing, calmed me, but at the same time excited me. The waves of the salty liquid washed the unkempt, pale grass creating a melancholic song. Waiting for the rain to wash all of the misery away, I stood there, my gaze burning into the horizon, staring at the beauty of the upcoming storm and the crying clouds.

The leaves scud over the ground and take small flights into the air. As I toss my head back and raise my eyes to the sky a smile spreads from freckled cheek to cheek. The branches sway like the arms of a soccer crowd and in their chaotic dance, they are hypnotically beautiful. My mind relaxes and I feel the happiness of my life bubble up from within, making me forget why I was standing here for a moment.

"Reags," Embry nods his head to the side, gesturing to Jake's driveway.

An orange, outdated pickup truck rolled down the driveway, halting every so often as if the driver was trying to find something or someone.

I licked my lips, the salt of the rain making my mouth taste bitter for a moment. "This is gonna be fun," I go to step forward but a hand grips my upper arm, halting me in my tracks. I turn around, causing the hand to be shaken off.

Jake stood there, a broody look on his face but, he wasn't looking at me. He was looking at something behind me, his face didn't falter at all, he just watched intently at whatever he was looking at.

I glance at Embry before turning my head to see Bella halfway down the driveway, a distressed look on her face while her jacket wasn't even covering one of her shoulders. It didn't look like she cared though.

Without a word, Jake trudged past me, his head lowered as I watched him slowly walk towards Bella.

"How do you think this is going to go?" Embry steps forward, shifting his body so he had a full view of the action. Or lack thereof.

They were just standing there, the rain pelting them in the process.

"Reagan, Embry," Sam's voice broke through the silence, making us both turn to his and Paul's approaching forms.

I nodded and pursed my lips as Paul looked at the ground, not greeting us in the process.

"You're scared of them, Jake!" Bella's voice echoed despite the rain pounding on the ground. I spun around noticing that Bella gestured to our little group aggressively. "You and I both know that you don't need them," I scoffed, stepping forward but I was held back by a much stronger force. A bulky arm was wrapped around my waist, making me stay put. I knew exactly who it was and I let him do it.

Paul pulled me closer to him, his chest mere inches from my back. I could feel his chest rising a bit faster than normal but I chose to ignore it. He loosed his grip but it still was firm. He acted as if he weren't holding me right now, I'd march over to Jake and Bella and rip her to shreds without warning.

I stabilized my breathing, closing my eyes for a moment to forget what she said about us. I opened my eyes, wiping the water away from my eyes yet, the rain still poured all over my face and hair, drenching my clothes.

Jake stepped away from Bella, turning his back to her. I involuntarily smirk as I study Bella's facial expression. She looked like she didn't believe what she was seeing.

Sam was first to walk off, Embry following behind. As Jake approached, he didn't even spare me a glance. He just kept walking.

"Reggie," Paul whispers as he gently pulls his arm away from my waist. I turn to face him, his eyes serious.

I scanned his face as he brought his hand up to softly caress my cheek, rubbing his thumb over my lip, his other hand made its way to my waist.

"I want you to meet my dad," My eyes widen, studying his face. He was being completely serious."I-I mean if you don't want to-"

"I want to," I stop his stuttering, his own face mirroring my own from moments ago.

He sighs in relief, "Thank god," He leans down and kisses me on the cheek softly. "This would have gotten awkward quickly if you had said something different." I giggle at his shy behavior. He could be so shy and other times he'd be so confident around me. I was falling in love with him and I didn't give a damn about the consequences
