♤Once-ler P.O.V♤

The town felt so different from when I remember it. It was new, interesting but also confusing. The guy Lorax had us watching, Greed, was also interesting but confusing. He felt, familiar. It was actually nice talking to him except for his attire, it made him command a room and it was intimidating. But something about him... felt like it was calling to me... after thinking about it, I decided I had had too much to drink. Nothing more.

"Thanks for leaving me!" I called as I walked into the house, The Lorax was laying on the bed with an ice pack on his head.

"The heck happened to you?" I asked raising an eyebrow. I would be more concerned if I wasn't so  irritated with him.

"Like I said, this and that," he said as he looked up at me, putting the ice pack down next to him.

"Anyways, you know Greed wasn't that bad, we had a normal conversation, except for the fact he is super intimidating," I started rambling, there was still alcohol in my system and his face keep popping up in my mind. Green. I like the color green.

"You are joking right? He has destroyed the forest, our home!" He yelled as if I had forgotten... which for a moment maybe I had. As I stumbled over to the chair I stared at the Lorax.

"I know, I know. I'm just saying what happened. Maybe, I can have a nice conversation with him," this didn't have to get ugly, we didn't have to chase him out or destroy everything he owns. I wonder what his eyes look like.

"Earth to Once-ler!" The Lorax was now snapping in my face. I had started day dreaming I guess.

"I'm just saying. But what is our next step, it's your forest," I said putting my hands up in surrender. It should be his call.

"Alright. It sounds like you have piqued his interest. That can be used to our advantage." He said as he took out a sheet of paper and started scribbling down whatever. I could feel myself starting to drift off.

"Hey kid, we will talk more in the morning, get some rest," I could hear him say as my eyes closed and darkness over took me.

The forest was sparkling. Everyone was having a great time as I strummed on my guitar, music had become my everything recently, my creative release. Suddenly a tall figure far away appeared. He looked lost. Wearing clothes that resembled the green grass. As he drew near I couldn't help but sense that I knew him. There was this connection between us, he took his sunglasses off and his eyes were a beautiful green, like emeralds.

"You live here?" He asked as he looked at all the commotion. I put my guitar on ground next to me.

"Yes, this is my home. Its beautiful isn't it?" I asked.

"It use to be," he said coldly. Suddenly the air filled with smoke, the trees were all stumps, the lakes ran black and all my furry friends had vanished.

"This... isn't right..." I breathed in surprise. It was ugly...

"No, it's not. But we didn't know that," he said as he put his sunglasses back on and gave me a sharp toothed smirk. He began to walked away from me.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE?" I screamed after him, but I couldn't catch him.

"KID WAKE UP!" a sudden slap to the face jolted me awake. I had sweat dripping down my forehead and a splitting headache.

"That must have been quite a nightmare, you were tossing and turning, not to mention yelling," the Lorax explained as he handed me some toast and a glass of water. I thanked him and shook my head. It felt real. Like I had done it with my own two hands. The thought alone made me want to throw up.

"Now that we are both sober we can talk about the next step in our plan," the Lorax seemed more relaxed today or I could be more tense. The nightmare was still fresh in the back of my mind.

"Yeah. Did you give some thought to my having a conversation with him?" I asked. Hoping we wouldn't have to play dirty and we could just talk...

"I did beanpole. But I'm almost positive that it won't work. Not yet atleast. But if you were to work for him and get close. Maybe you can change his mind." He was pacing back and forth as he went through this new plan and it sounded better than facing him head on. But I would still need to lie to get close to him.

"Okay. Anything I should know about the company before I start there?" I asked. I wondered how many people I would have to lie to in order to get by.

"Oh yeah... about that..." the Lorax diverted his eyes and he looked out the window. There was something he didn't want to tell me. It made me nervous.

"You see kid. Your family came to work for Greed a little while back. You'll need to act like you don't know them." He spoke still refusing to meet my gaze. Why would my family come to work for Greed? But it made sense, my family was always crazy about money. How could they side with someone who was destroying the forest... why hadn't they talked to me about it...

"Hey kid, you okay?" The Lorax asked as he laid his hand on my shoulder. My thoughts were interrupted by him and I looked around at all the other creature surrounding us now. This was there home. My family or anyone else has no right to take it away.

"I'm in!"
