Shawn and Katy

Shawn went to go see Katy. It didn't push Shawn away as Maya told you she feared. Shawn and Katy's relationship had a little bit of a rocky start, but they soon came to an understanding as they realized they had two things in common; both of them cared about Maya and were terrified of being left again. So instead of Shawn "running for the hills", as Maya put it, he actually became closer to her since he was determined not to let another kid grow up like he did.

That included making sure Maya had a good relationship with her mom, unlike what he had growing up. That's why he took it upon himself to tell Maya the truth about her father leaving, instead of letting her believe that her mother chased him away.

Maya was confused at first and mad that her mom hadn't told her, but in the end, everything worked out. Maya's relationship with her mom grew as did Shawn's relationship with Katy.

The two went on their first date, with approval from Maya of course. Maya was excited when Shawn pulled her aside during a late lunch that you had invited them to at your apartment.

"Would it be alright with you if, I don't know, I ask your mom date?" he asked.

A smile immediately formed on her lips. "Yes," she nodded happily.

When Shawn asked Katy, the same smile formed on her lips. The two went out for dinner and a movie and must've hit it off because they went on a second date soon after. After several almost a year of dating Shawn finally did it.

Shawn proposed to Katy and it happened in the least anticipated way possible. Auggie was at a friend's house. The girls had run away upstate to see Shawn and sell Maya's clothes and Cory was going to get them.

You and Katy had the apartment to yourselves and were using that free time to chat over a glass of wine.

Riley and Maya were the first to barge in through the front door, covered in purple paint.

Shawn and Cory came in shortly after. Shawn took Katy's hand and told her that he loved Maya and that he was in love with Katy. He asked if she wanted to get married and got down on one knee, pulling a ring out of his jacket.

Katy said yes. Shawn spontaneously set up the wedding on the roof of the building and now the wedding is tomorrow, which is the reason why you are sitting with Maya on the couch in the middle of the night.

You're holding her in your arms as she anxiously tells you her worries and fears.

She tells you that she first went to Riley and told her everything she was feeling, but Riley was asleep when that all happened.

"Talking to someone who's actually awake is a little bit more helpful," she tiredly jokes.

You let out a small chuckle. She still has her sense of humor even at times like these when she's so scared and nervous.

"I just never want that to happen again," she says.

"I know," you say rubbing her arm. "No one ever wants to get hurt like that. You don't deserve that."

"I wasn't talking about me. I don't ever want my mom to go through that again," she tells you shaking her head at the thought. "I used to hear her crying in her bedroom at night. I used to go in there to try and stop her, but I couldn't," she frowns at the unpleasant memory.

You also admire how she insists on stopping other people's pain before even thinking about her own.

"In a million years, Shawn would never even think about hurting you or your mom," you remind her.

"I know," she quietly whispers.

"In fact, I think Shawn will do anything in the world for you two," you say, but the teen is softly breathing, having fallen asleep in your arms.

The next day, you notice she's a little apprehensive, but also excited to prepare for the wedding.

You know she's battling the demon in her head that tells her everything is going to fall through, yet you see her trying her best to keep the smile on her face, especially around her mom whose hopes are high for this wedding despite her own past.

You take Katy and the girls shopping for dresses and shoes as Katy does not want to "flip-flop down the aisle."

She decides on a flowing, pale pink-white dress and a nice pair of open-toe white heels.

When the time comes, you walk down the aisle followed by Riley and Maya to your spots. Followed by Auggie and Ava, and then Mr. Feeny who is apparently a minister too.

Shawn comes out and Cory does a strange sort of give-away by pinching his cheeks and telling him that he's Katy's problem now.

Shawn arrives at the altar looking nervous but ready to start a new chapter of his life.

Katy comes out and is escorted by Cory to her spot at the altar.

Mr. Feeny asks Shawn if he agrees to marry Katy to which he answers, "I do."

Mr. Feeny then asks Katy if she agrees to marry Shawn.

Before she can answer, Maya steps forward. "Wait," she says.

You're slightly worried that Maya's past will scare into stopping the wedding.

"Before you do this, I'm jumping with you," she says certain of her decision. "I'm taking the leap of faith with you."

Katy and Shawn hug her before she returns to her spot and Mr. Feeny asks Katy again.

"I do," she says, officially allowing Mr. Feeny to pronounce them man and wife.

"Guys," Shawn excitedly says looking around at everyone.

They kiss and exit down the aisle laughing excitedly with joy. Katy throws her bouquet and somehow Ava manages to catch it.

"Great," you weakly say.

Later that night, you walk into Riley's room to see the two of them sitting in the bay window.

"How are you feeling, Maya?" you ask.

"Surprised," she answers. "Something good is happening for me."

Riley pushes aside a strand of Maya's hair from her face. "You're going to get everything you want out of life."
