monday
it took a good 15 minutes for them to just wait for the coffee, since the line was so long. the two virginians felt like leaving, until their names were called. they grabbed their coffees and hurried to school.
they finally managed to sit in their desks and were only a few minutes late to class. the teacher was fine with it. she didn't care much anyways. the teacher would always excuse herself and go somewhere to smoke.
"psst. hey." said a student sitting in front of james. "is that your boyfriend? real nice. i'd be surprised if-"
"shut it, hamilshit." growled thomas, now getting up from his seat. everyone was watching them, ready to record. thank god the teacher was outside. james slid down in his seat, trying to cover himself from what's about to happen.
hamilton looked unfazed. he wasn't scared of thomas in any way. "or what?" hamilton shot back, he too getting up from his seat. this isn't going to end well.
"or else your fuckboy friends are gonna be waving your head on a stick in front of your mommy's tombstone! and your boyfriend? yeah, he ain't gonna care. fuck off, dipshit."
that triggered hamilton's friends, as they were already up from their seats and almost surrounding thomas. james decided to do something about thie situation. "stop it, all of you!" the small male screamed.
"jeffershit, get this worthless piece of garbage out of here." hamilton cooed, which made james tear up a bit. james scratched his arm and slowly walked away. thomas followed, but not before he gave hamilton a strong slap across the face.
"a-are you okay jem? don't listen to him, darlin'.." thomas said in a hushed tone, hugging his friend. james hugged back after a while as he blinked the tears away. "its okay, thomas.. i'm just sensitive.."
thomas couldn't help but smirk. "yeah, i know you are. but when i get my hands on hamilshit's neck, i'm gonna choke him like there's no fucking-!!" thomas got cut off by a slap on the back of his head.
"jeffershit. meet me outside after school. you're gonna be dead." ah, it was hamilton. of course it was hamilton. almost all of hamilton's friends were enemies of thomas', except one. he is a transfer student from france. he does hang out with the hamilsquad, but also with jefferson, which hamilton and his friends frown upon.
thomas shot a middle finger at hamilton and walked off. james followed. "please.. please don't get hurt." the shorter boy said. thomas rolled his eyes and wrapped an arm around his friend's neck. "ha! don't worry about it, james. hamilshit ain't got a chance."
"still, he could get backup." "it's gonna be fine, jem. trust me." thomas ruffled james' short hair. james let out a soft laugh and blushed.
"hey, if it makes you feel better, why don't we just ditch classes? i mean, the teachers don't really care anyways." thomas suggested. james was skeptical at first. why would they ditch classes just to relax? they should study, they shouldn't fail this school year. but james, not wanting to upset his friend, agreed.
the two walked around until they reached a kind of field. it was fairly far away from the school. the two sat under an oak tree and watched the clouds. at least, james did. thomas pulled out a small white box, inside being a small roll of paper. he took it and lit it, taking puffs and blowing out grey smoke.
james noticed the familiar smell and looked up at thomas. "is it really a good time..? now..?" he asked. thomas rolled his eyes and sighed. "james, just let me relax." "but this isn't good for you, thomas."
thomas ignored james' statement and blew out more grey smoke. james decided to shut his mouth before he gets in trouble. he hugged his knees and continued to look up at the clouds. he hated when thomas would smoke, but he never said anything about it.
"hamilton is such a bitch. i'm going to kill him when we get back." thomas suddenly said. james just nodded. thomas continued to ramble about his enemy while still smoking.
thomas' words became a blur in james' ears. he completely tuned him out. at this point he would start wondering about the future, more specifically, thomas. he just wanted to confess. but he can't. he's too weak. too sensitive. too shy. he would just freeze and wait for a slap.
"-and can you just believe that-"
he wondered, will he ever have a chance with him?
"-and not to mention-"
will they be a happy couple one day? is it just in his dreams?
"-and- james?"
or will they be the complete opposite?
"james!"
james flinched visibly and turned his head to thomas. "y-yeah? s-sorry." he stuttered. "am i right about this?" thomas asked. is he right? fuck yes. he was always right in james' eyes. "yeah." james mumbled.
the two sat there and talked until sundown. they fell asleep, james leaning on thomas' chest. they're gonna be in bug trouble tomorrow.
