It had been three days since Zoya last met Aditya and to say that the meeting didn't go well would be an understatement. She didn't let him speak what he wanted to and basically fled the scene as soon as her driver showed up. She still remembered his face when she told him that there was nothing to talk about. But still, in some way... she had a sense of closure. Even though they hadn't spoken about it, she had made it clear from her end that she didn't want to speak of what happened because there was nothing either one of them could do about it. And that was enough closure for her for now.
Moreover, there were other things bothering her as well. Wasim hadn't been well lately, his hypertension had been worsening and he had even had an incidence of pain in his chest yesterday. When her mom had informed Zoya about it, she tried to make it sound like it was no big deal nut Zoya knew better. She knew her mother just didn't want her to be worried.
Zoya knew her worry for Wasim's health wouldn't go away till she physically met him and gave him a hearing about taking care of his health. So she decided to do just that, pack her bags and go to Mussoorie for a few days. She spent the previous night trying to get Yash to agree to come with her.
"If your father is unwell, I'm pretty sure his health would worsen after seeing me," he said.
She had always wanted to see Yash and Wasim's relations get better but that just seemed like a distant dream. Despite of her persistent efforts, Yash refused to accompany her. She could always tell him she was upset but the fact that she had cheated on him would never let her truly be mad at Yash because no matter what he did, it wouldn't be as bad as her sin. This combined with the fact that she would really love to get away from her married life, which she had effectively ruined, for a few days made her excuse Yash this time.
Thus, here she was, alone at the airport. She hated, hated and hated flights. The idea of being so high up in the air made her anxious and the news reports of airplanes going missing and crashing didn't help either. As she made her way to the flight after the announcement and seated herself in her seat, her anxiety level just went higher. It even made her question the decision of coming without Yash because there was no one to comfort her this time.
Soon, all the passengers were seated and the flight was ready to take off. Realising this, Zoya was clutching the armrest with her eyes shut waiting for the flight to be set in motion. She heard an announcement from the air-hostess about preparing for take off and she mostly ignored it but something caught her attention and she jerked herself straight with her eyes now wide open.
The announcement wasn't clear but she could bet that she heard the lady announce the captain's name and as much as she wished she was wrong, Zoya was pretty sure that she had heard Aditya's name.
Damn it.
Was it really him or was her mind playing games with her? Was it possible that there was another Captain Aditya Hooda in Mumbai working at the same airline? Her mind went back and forth between being sure and unsure again. Between all this, Zoya hadn't realised when they had actually taken off. She only realised it when she felt a jerk as the plane left the ground. She looked outside the window and felt a slight sense of relief that the hardest part was over... now all she had to deal with was the constant reminder that she was up in the air and her paranoia that the plane could crash out of nowhere. She adjusted her seat belt for probably the hundredth time since she had taken her seat when she heard his voice, confirming her doubts.
"Good morning passengers. This is your captain, Aditya Hooda speaking..." The rest was a blur as Zoya was stuck on just this sentence. It was him, it was Aditya. The same Aditya she spent one night making love to and the same Aditya she left alone on the road. She didn't know if it was fate's way of mocking her because this was the last thing she was expecting when she decided to go to Mussoorie alone. What if they met? What would she say? Was there anything to say? Would she even say hello or ignore and go the other way? The situation was unlike anything Zoya would've imagined.
