It was raining, cold and heavy drops hit the windows as I sat on the sofa holding Rowan when I heard it. A car door slammed. I got up, still holding Rowan and I ran upstairs to grab my gun. Zach's gun. I made sure it was loaded and I put Rowan in his car seat and hid him in the closet. And I headed downstairs. Towards the people that were in my home, the people I thought I was going to have to kill.
I took a few steps down the stairs until I reached the bottom, preparing myself to turn the corner and shoot. But as soon as I turned, I was met with a boy, my age maybe a year or two older. I still held my gun up, anyone and everyone could not be trusted. "What are you doing in my house?!" I spoke in a stern voice. He turned and had the most beautiful chocolate brown eyes I'd ever seen. "We were walking and had nowhere else to go and then we saw this house and figured it was empty. We haven't seen other people for weeks..." he spoke, clear with no stutter. "We?" I questioned. And then I was slammed against the wall.
I woke up on the sofa with my head pounding. I open my eyes to see a young man maybe 20ish sitting in front of me distracted and across the room the boy who looked worried staring right at me. When he finally noticed I was awake he came rushing over and asked if I was okay. I nodded and asked him how long I'd been asleep. "3-4 hours, not long," he replied sitting down next to me on the sofa. "3 hours! Shit!" I stood up in a hurry and dashed upstairs ignoring their questions to where I was going. "Rowan?!" I yelled while coming up the stairs. When I finally got to the room I opened the door and went straight for the closet. And there lied Rowan in his car seat sound asleep, just the way I left him.
I took him out of the car seat and held him as he slept, then the door creaked and I turned around to see the boy, whom I still did not know the name of. "Is he yours?" the boy asked. "Yes, well no... sort of" I replied nervously, "I found him a few days after the disease broke out and I've had him ever since," I said shyly. "That's amazing," the boys said in awe, still staring at Rowan with wide eyes. "His name's Rowan," I said. "I like that," the boys said. "I still don't know your name?" I questioned back to him. "Finn," he replied. "Yours?" he asked. "Y/N,"
