Chapter 2

(Kate's POV)

It's been 3 days since I saw Danny at work. I usually work on Sunday's, but my boss gave me it off at the last minute.

RING RING

I look at my phone and see my bestfriend Grace is calling me. Grace and I met when I first moved to Boston and we've been Bestfriends since!

"hello" I answer.

"Guess what....we are going to the Patriots game today!!" She exclaims!

"Umm I'll pass" I say.

"Katie you can't let Danny hold you back on having a good time, and you can just ignore him on the field. Plus he won't see us because were sitting high up! Pleeeaaasse come Katie!" She begs.

"Fine, but I'm only going because I know your the biggest Patriots fan there is." I finally say.

"YAY I'll pick you up in and hour so you better be ready and you can wear my Gronkowski jersey because I know you don't own any Patriots shirts!"she says, hanging up.

What am I getting myself into. How can I just avoid looking at him! I'm just going to try and forget about what has been going on and enjoy myself!

2 HOURS LATER

We got to the game about an hour before it started so we just went to our seats. Thank god they were up high...probably the highest we could get.

The voice on the loud speaker started talking.

"FANS TODAY WE PICKED TWO LUCKY FANS TO GET THEIR SEAT UPGRADED AND A LOCKER ROOM PASS FOR AFTER THE GAME. PLEASE LOOK UNDER YOUR SEAT TO SEE IF YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED"

I didn't even bother to look under my seat because what's the odds of me getting them and I would even want them anyway. Of course Grace looked under her seat.

"katie we won, we won! She yells in my ear.

Two workers then walk up to us and bring us to our new seats and to my luck their right behind the bench! Once we get there I sit down

"Grace I'm sorry but I can't go to the locker room, I don't want to see Danny" I say.

"You can just stand outside you don't have to go in, he has to stay in the locker room for a while after so you won't see him" she assures me.

The game went by super quick and the Patriots ended up beating the Dolphins 24-7! I was so happy that Danny didn't see me during the game, but now it was time to go down to the locker room.

"I'm just gonna stand here you can go in now. Take your time just make sure you leave before Danny does and please don't mention me to him" I say to grace.

"I won't dont worry" she says.

So she went into the locker room and I was left alone sitting in between the Patriots locker room and the visitors locker room. I thought there would be more people around, it was literally just me and once in a while someone would walk by. Then the visitors locker room door opens and a guy walks up to me.

"Hi I'm Brian Hartline, and you are? I" he says.

Even though I don't know much about football I did know that name. I've heard stories about how he sleeps around and drinks a lot

"Umm I'm Katie" I say.

"What's a pretty girl like you doing over here by yourself" he says.

I pause. This is the one moment I wish that someone would walk by..

"I'm waiting for someone" I say taking a step back.

He takes another step closer.

"What are you doing later?we should go do something" He says kind of creepy.

"Umm I have to go." I say trying to get away. He grabs my wrist tightly.

"Can you please let go of me" I say kind of loudly.

(Danny's POV)

After the game I take a quick shower and then go meet some of the fans.

"Danny can you go grab me a towel from the closet in the hallway" julian says.

"Why can't you get it" I say back joking around.

"Because I still need to take of my jersey and cleats" he says.

"Fine I will" I finally say.

As soon as I walk out of the locker room I hear a familiar voice talking to a manly voice around the corner. As soon as the thought processes through my head I hear the voice say "can you please let go of me?". I knew that voice...it was Katie's. I turn the corner and I see Brian Hartline holding her wrists as she's trying to wiggle out of his grip. Just as I start to see tears forming in her eyes I say "Let go of her."

Hartline slowly let go of her and looked at me.

"Mind your own business Amendola" he says as he walks by me.

I run up to Katie who is know sitting with her back up against the wall and her head on her knees. I knew she didn't want to see me, nor did she want to talk to me.

"Katie, are you okay?" I say.

All I can hear is her soft cry muffled into her knees. I grab her wrist carefully and look at her wrists. One was really red and one was starting to bruise. I sit down next to her and pull her into a hug. She doesn't budge.

"Katie I know you don't want to talk to me, but all I need to know is are you okay and did he do anything else to you or say anything." I say softly.

She looks up and looks at me.

"No I'm fine he just said that we should hang out tonight then I said I had to go and he grabbed my wrist." She say quietly.

"Look Katie can we just go out to get coffee or to get something to eat." I say.

"Why would I want to Danny you were the only person I truly loved and you hurt me. It took me months to get over what you did to me. I still haven't fully gotten over it. How can you just move on that fast." Katie say looking up.

"Katie I know what I did was wrong, I would go back and redo it if I could. You don't think it killed me to know you were hurting. Your friends would call me and tell me how you just blocked out everyone and was depressed for a couple of months. When I heard that, that's when I know I made a huge mistake and that there was no going back. You changed your number and all of your friends didn't even know your new number! I promised myself that if I ever saw you again that I would make everything right" I say.

"Danny I can't just trust you again. You hurt me to much." She says.

That's when my eyes start tearing up. I look at her and she looks back.

"Please just go get coffee with me tommorow, just as friends. Then hopefully eventually I can show you that I'm trustworthy because back then I don't know what I was thinking I was a stupid 21 year old that had to many drinks and made the biggest mistake of my life." I say

"Fine I'll go get coffee with you, but just as friends" she says

I stand up and she gets up too.

"Why are you here anyway." I say.

"My friend dragged me here and she won locker room passes and I didn't want to go in so I stayed out here" she says.

"You didn't want to go in because of me, am I right?" I say.

She just nods and looks down.

"Come meet them, btw julian is the only one who knows who you are." I say.

"Danny just to let you know we arnt really on "good" terms yet." She say as were walking into the locker room.

"I know we've only gotten past step one and that's to get you to actually talk to me." I give her a small smirk.
