Chapter 1

Thunder boomed loudly,the freezing wind nearly knocked me back,there she stood,watching me with an amused expression. I heard someone calling my name as she plunged her sword into my chest,up ahead my professor stood,as frozen as her heart. Someone cried out my name once more,it was Luna's voice. I noticed a young man,around my age with green hair before everything went dark.

I fell out of my bed,Luna was still calling my name,I sighed with relief as I came to my senses that I only had a nightmare. I sat up as Luna came into my room. "Hey,didn't you hear me? Get up and dressed,we start class today." Luna playfully scolded me,he had been my only friend for most of my life. I stood up,longing to be back in the Forest Realm,but after the prince died,Alikai just gave up on it. Luna placed a gentle hand on my shoulder,calm  and caring eyes seemed to scan me over. "I know,I know. I hate it as much as you do,but we can make it work,alright?" His hand grasped my shoulder. "Yeah,alright." I looked up him,smiling,Luna's eyes gleamed gleefully. "Get dressed,I made breakfast,your favourite...and for the sake of the universe,brush out your hair." Luna teased,he ruffled my hair,as if that would help when I brush it. "Gee,okay mom." I laughed,teasing him back. Luna grinned at me "I'll pick you up after I'm out of class,alright?" Luna grabbed his bag and slung it over his shoulder,I nodded. "Be safe,alright Alsan?" Luna looked a bit concerned. "Okay,Luna. Good luck today." I hugged him tightly around the waist,Luna hugged me back,towering over me. Luna has always been much taller than me,he used to lift me onto his shoulders when I was upset to make me laugh,it always worked too. I got dressed,ate breakfast,and to Luna's satasfaction as he left,brushed my hair for once. I grabbed my bag and made way to the new school. As I came up to the school doors,something caught my eye,it was him,the young man from my dream,but what was he doing here? I walked over to him,as a drew near he jolted up,his ice blue eyes stared me down,he looked anxious,or maybe even frightened. I knelt down next to him and held out my hand,he looked at me confused,his tail swayed. "You're not going to attempt to kill me?" His eyes softened and he didn't look as frightened. "Why would I? I don't havea reason to. I'm Alsan." I motioned my hand,much to my surprise,he shook it. "My name is..." he trailed off. "Well,you can just call me Drifter." He smiled at me,I felt a twinge in my heart when he smiled,Luna smiles at me all the time,yet I don't feel that. "Well,it's nice to meet you,Drifter." I smiled back,I felt my face turn red,I hoped that he didn't notice and think of me as weird,but instead he laughed "You're cute,you know that?" Drifter moved closer to me,I felt my face get hot with embarrassment,this made Drifter laugh once again. The soft spring breeze blew his hair gently,he looked up at the sky,his visor gleamed in the sun. "So,how long have you been here?" Drifter closed his eyes as  he spoke. "Just started today." I responded. "Well,you'll like it here,I have a pretty small friend group,they're pretty nice." Drifter smiled kindly. "We should head to class. Who's your homeroom?" His eyes stared into my soul,as if he was determining something. "Fonsworth." I replied,I looked at Drifter,he was now messing with his hands,lost in thought. "Same..maybe we can walk together?" Drifter looked up,it felt good to be taller than someone for once. "Sure." I smiled at him,his icy blue eyes gleemed with excitement as he took my hand and we started to class. Today was the day I began a new life as a normal teenager,or I had hoped so at least,but things don't always go as planned,do they?
