Chapter Four ~ The Note

Wednesday:

"Finally. You guys took your time huh?" Aasim chuckled

"Yeah, where were y'all?" Brody curiously asked

Louis looked at Clementine as if he was telling her not to tell the truth on the innocent question.

"Woah, what happened to your face Clem? Was that from last night?" Marlon gasped

Clementine looked at Louis who was seemingly looking for some kind of scenario to cover up the truth.

"Oh she just-"

"I had an allergic reaction to a face wash I used. Nurse said it should clear up by tomorrow."

Louis took a discrete breath of relief as those words rolled off her tongue. He almost believed her himself.

"So you just washed one half of your face?" Mitch snickered

"No, I started washing my face on this side." She said pointing to her cheek, "but I stopped cause it started burning." She finished.

Her just nodded his head slowly.

"Why didn't you just use your own?" Sophie smirked, obviously just trying to give her a hard time.

"Because before I came here, I ordered my own online and once it arrived, I realized it was travel sized." She explained

Even she was surprised at how she was making this up. She never considered herself a good liar but she definitely felt like one right now.

"Alright enough about face wash. Lets eat!" Said Aasim.

Louis nodded at Clementine in approval, silently thanking her. She didn't know why he was scared to tell Marlon but she figured he'd tell her later.

Louis sat across from Clementine, eating his meal as they all chatted with one and other during their lunch break.

"So, hows the book?" Aasim asked Clementine curiously.

"It's great. I'm about halfway done with it so you can borrow it probably by the end of the week." She smiled

"Thank you so much. I can't wait to read it."

She nodded her head, resuming her meal when she turned to Louis who looked upset. He kept glancing over at Marlon and then back down.

Being the optimistic, chatty person he was, she was surprised no one else noticed this. Weren't they meant to be his best friends?

"Louis, I think I forgot my homework in the music room. Can you come with me to get it so the teachers don't think I'm being weird?" She lied, chuckling at the end of her sentence

"Oh anyone is aloud in there you just can't-" he began, stopping mid sentence when he saw her eyebrows raise, silently telling him to just oblige. "But yeah I'll tag along so they don't think you're stealing or anything." He nervously chuckled

The two stood up, quickly walking to the music room. Once they were inside the main building, Clementine pulled him under the stairs so she could talk to him privately.

"Well?"

"What?" He asked innocently

"Are you going to tell me why I had to lie?" She chuckled lightly

"Oh! That's why we're here?"

"Louis.."

"Okay fine. Marlon can't know that we got in a fight with Austin. They really don't like each other and if Marlon finds out about what he did, he might get in a fight with Austin and if he does, he could get another six months added to his time here." He explained
