In the City of old
Was a cat who was bold
And even though he had a family
He was still very cold

His family was small
Was just about to fall
And even though he made them stay
They always seemed to brawl

Months had gone by
Was a father who would cry
And even though the kittens were there
The mother would have to die

They all say in tears
Was then a father wishing beers
Even though things were fine
Everybody had their fears

Things had gone quiet and still
Was kittens looking up in ill
Even though Father was now gone
They then started with a pill

One of them started to run
Was heading near the sun
Even though it started looking good
The father came back for more fun

This poem is about a small and poor family in an old town. The mother is ill and is always at the hospital. She can't work or help out any of the family. The father persuades them that he'll get money and they could live happier, making them stay. The mother dies from not enough medicine and the hospital bills taking away their money. The father falls into depression from his wife dying, thinking it's his fault, he then becomes an alcoholic. After so, the house is usually quiet but when he becomes drunk, he gets aggressive and verbally/physically abusive. The father leaves the children behind with no guardian or parent figure. The kids try their best to get through it all but one falls ill just like the mother. Yes, the kid gets treatment but, they become addicted to the medication and overdose on it. That left two more children to try and get through everything together, but would they be be able to survive, mostly when someone coming back so soon.
