AUTHOR'S NOTE (AN):
The first part might be a little boring, but I want to make sure I have a steady foundation for the rest, so please stick with it, I promise things will get spicy soon ;).
Sighing, you lied back onto the soft grass in front of your house. You studied the sky, taking mental notes of each cloud and it's specific shape. Lost in your own thoughts, you didn't notice the small red and white mushrooms sprouting up from the soil around you.
"...y/n... you're doing it again." Snapping back to reality, you turned your head to face the red and white haired boy lying beside you. You smiled at him as you spoke, "Sorry, Shoto. I guess I'm not quite used to my quirk yet." He smiled lightly and said it was okay. Most kids started to notice their blossoming quirks around the age of four, but you were a particularly late bloomer. You had just turned seven a month ago and the week after your birthday was when you first noticed the fungi that seemed to follow wherever you went. A day or two after, you awoke from a nap to realize you were covered head to toe in various colors of mushrooms. You could barely move, and that moment was when you realized that your quirk was controlling small fungi, specifically mushrooms. You could grow them as big or as small as you wanted, in any shape, color, or 'species' you preferred. It seemed useless, especially considering that if you overexerted yourself, you would start to grow all types of different mushrooms from your arms, legs, torso, neck, and face.
The worst part was when you went to show everyone at school, and they all made fun of you. "Useless," they would call it. "She'll never be a hero with that quirk", they sneered. The only ones who stood by you were your three best friends, Izuku, Todoroki, and Bakugou. Bakugou less than the others, but that didn't come as a surprise to her. Over the years, she and Bakugou slowly drifted. He didn't harass her like he did everyone else, but they certainly weren't friends by any means. Eventually Izuku accepted his lack of quirk, and shut you and Todoroki out. Which left you and Shoto against the world. You didn't mind, he was your best friend and you would do anything for him. Which is why it broke your heart when you had to move away from him. In the span of two days, you had lost everything you held dear. First your parents, who were small time heroes who happened to meet an untimely demise by the hands of a well known hero known as parasite. Because you were only 7 and couldn't live by yourself, you had to be moved to a foster home, leaving behind Todoroki. You often liked to recall the last day you two spent together, lying in the moist grass in the front yard of what had been your parent's house. It was a sad day to say the least.
But she didn't like to think about that. She spent ages 8-15 bouncing from foster home to foster home. Depressed, you threw yourself into training, desperately trying to make your quirk useful in battle. By age 14, you were fairly strong. You had taken control of your quirk and figured out how to use it to your advantage. You developed a dream of getting into UA and becoming a hero, like your parents. You could finally enroll next year, and boy were you pumped.

You reached for the door handle, you were already late. A hand clamped your shoulder and you slowly turned to face your foster father for the last two years. He had been your father's best friend up until he passed, and was just as affected by their death as you had been. You had been hoping to leave early and avoid his lecture. He smiled at you warily, and when hes poke it was in a harsh whisper. "...y/n... I can't believe it's finally time."
You rolled your eyes, checking your watch. "Dad. I'm gonna be late." He frowned and let you go with a slight nod. You smiled and practically sprinted out the door, running down the street.

You walked up to the doors of UA, walking past all the potential peers who were also applying. You stopped dead in your tracks and you breath hitched. You couldn't believe what you saw. You slowly walked up to the bench where a certain boy was sitting, reading a book. Tears welled up in your eyes, threatening to fall down your face any second.
"Todoroki?" You said, barely able to speak above a whisper. His head whipped around, his piercing eyes meeting yours. He frowned, clearly confused. "How do you know my nam-" He was cut off by the front doors of the school opening, signaling to the students that they should enter.
