Sorry, this is a really long chapter haha. 1152 words in total lmao.
I sighed and ducked my head. Of course he doesn't remember me, it's been over 8 years since I've seen him. After the bell rang, he gave me a weird look as if to say, 'what are you stalking me? What a weirdo.' I followed the mass of people into the auditorium and sat down next to two nice-enough looking strangers. Present Mic, a hero I greatly respected, sauntered up to the podium and let out a deafening sound. We all instantly stopped talking and covered our ears, I think it would be safe to say he received our attention. He started to explain how the entrance exam worked. There would be four levels of robots, all containing a different amount of points, except for one, which was simply a distraction. I already knew all of this, however. I had trained for this exact scenario with my foster dad for years. I suddenly snapped to attention, hearing a familiar sound. Muttering. Fast-paced, inaudible, muttering. I searched the large hall, looking for a certain mop of green tinted hair. My eyes landed on him, sitting there thinking and muttering. He hasn't changed at all I whispered, covering my mouth. It was Izuku.
I zoned out again, staring at Midoriya. 'He sure grew up', I thought. We were all asigned to a specific testing area and soon the test began. I sprinted out into the open, ignoring the small robots at the entrance. I headed towards the back, knowing less people would be there since they all would want to quickly get as many points as possible. I heard the distinct sound of ice behind me as Todoroki sped past me. I ran over to the dirt and threw it out into a group of robots. Shoto paused for a second, confused as to what I was doing.
The dirt hit the floor near the robots and instantly large brown mushrooms sprouted out of the ground and wrapped themselves around a robot each, squeezing it until they crushed and then immediately sinking back through the dirt as if they had never been there. I had easily taken out four or five at once, and I sprinted off to search for more. Shoto brought himself back to reality and boosted himself off in search of an opponent.
After fifteen minutes or so, I easily had enough points to be in the top four. I hope so at least. I had noticed Shoto stopped to watch me use my quirck, maybe he finally recognized me. My thoughts were interrupted as the zero point robot crashed through the buildings ahead of most of the class. "Ignore it, y/n." I muttered to myself. I started to run off, but then I heard a yell. Everyone started running off, remembering the giant's point value, but I was stuck in place. There was a student trapped under the rubble. Out of the crowd of fleeing students, a green haired short boy I recognized started flying up to it's height. I gasped, "but you're quirkless..." I said. He prepared himself to throw a punch at the huge robot. You've got to be kidding me. I watched in awe, almost forgetting about the paralyzed girl about to crushed. Almost. At the last second, I threw dirt infront of her, as she stared at me in confusion. Red mushrooms with white spots sprouted out of the ground and lifted her from the rubble, much to her surprise. As I lifted her up, Midoriya threw his punch at the robot, completely shattering the robot's face.
His arm appeared to be broken as he violently hurtled toward the floor. I frantically searched around for some dirt, and threw it where he appeared to be falling towards. At the very last second I sprouted a short, but immensely fluffy mushroom top, and sighed as it caught him safely.
I cursed as I felt the stinging sensation that came with a small mostly red mushroom sprouting out of my forehead. I clutched my head, but pulled my hands away as I touched a wet substance. I brought my hands down from my face and sighed at my white blood covering my hand. I needed to stop and cool down, otherwise my bleeding would become severely worse. My mushrooms could be removed, but I only ever removed them if they got in the way of my mobility or sight. I liked to keep them as a reminder to keep myself from being reckless.
The buzzer signaling the end of the exam sounded and recovery girl waddled over to the three of us, cursing us out individually for being careless. I wiped the blood from my face and felt someone staring at me. I looked into the crowd surrounding us and made eye contact with todoroki. I started to get up, wanting to speak with him, but he disappeared into the crowd. I ran over to where he had been, I needed- I wanted to talk to him. Just as I was about to lose hope, someone grabbed my wrist and pulled me off into an alleyway. instantly I threw the remaining dirt I had at my attacker, you could never be too careful, smaller but still strong fungi restrained him as I turned around.
"Oh, It's just yo-" I shreiked as another, bigger, brown, mushroom sprouted from my forearm, along with another gush of white blood. I steadied myself, and waved my hand to make the current mushrooms dissipate. I had to restrain myself, what didn't I get about that. Todoroki rushed over to me, keeping his calm and collected persona intact.
He looked into my eyes, and in his I saw a feeling of joy. "y/n? is that you?'' he asked.
Clutching my arm, I smiled, "Yeah, Shoto, it's me." He embraced me without hesitation, and I gladly melted into his arms. "I didn't think you would remember me." I said, careful not to choke on my words. He took a step back, a concerned expression plastered on his face. "How could I forget you? We were best friends for so long. Where the hell have you been?
We continued talking and catching up with each other until we noticed the rest of the students leaving the exam area. We walked out together, and started to walk home. They informed us that we would get our results back shortly, but I wasn't worried. I realized after a minute or two that we must live on the same street. He smiled and nodded, "what a coincidence."
We said goodbye and parted ways. I unlocked the door to my house and walked in. My foster dad was sitting there waiting for me. I rolled my eyes.
"How did it go?" He said with fake enthusiasm. "You know our plan won't work if you don't get in, y/n."
