By the time they reached Aizawa's house, it had already begun to lightly rain.
Unlocking the door, Aizawa held the handle for a minute. It had slipped his mind until now, but if his mother was worried before, he's sure she would be hysterical now.
Hesitantly opening the door handle, he called out, "I'm home mom!"
At his voice, a cute, black-haired lady popped her head into the hallway before running to the door.
"Shota Aizawa, do you know what time it is?! I was just about to call the police! We bought you a phone for a reason, maybe try picking it up sometimes?!" She lectured him.
"I know, I'm sorry. I just... lost track of time."
"Well don't let it happen again, do you hear me?" She huffed in relief.
As Aizawa stepped into his house, that was when she noticed Mizuki standing behind him. Her eyes instantly lit up at her, looking at the girl as if she was the sun itself.
"Shota! You didn't say you were with a friend? And what a cute girl she is~ It's nice to meet you, dear, I'm Shota's mother, please-tell-me your-Shota's-girlfriend...!" She beamed, clasping Mizuki's hands in her own.
"E-Eh, oh, uh... no, we're not... not like that, ma'am..." The young girl mumbled, eyes darting to Aizawa for help.
"Mom, this is my classmate, Mizuki Usostuki. She's the one I've been tutoring for the past week, remember? That's why I've been coming home late. She's just dropping me off."
"Oh, I see... Wait, why aren't you dropping her off Shota? That's not very gentlemanly of you," Aizawa only sighed at this.
"Anyway, won't you come in Usotsuki-Chan? It's cold and rainy outside, how about some tea to warm you up!" But before Mizuki could decline the offer, Aizawa's mom had already pulled her into the house and skipped off towards the kitchen. "No" wasn't an option here.
Glancing back at Aizawa, he gives her an apologetic look before leading her to the living room. Taking a set, Mizuki fiddled with her fingers, hoping that this wouldn't take too long. She had forgotten her umbrella and wanted to make it back home before it got too bad outside. A few minutes later, Aizawa's mom entered the room, bringing over a tray of tea. Setting a cup in front of the girl, Mizuki takes it, letting the heat warm up her hands.
"So, Usotsuki-Chan, if you don't mind, I'd like to ask you something," She starts.
"Shota, this involves you too," She says, making the teen sit down with the two of them.
"Did something happen on your way here? The two of you look... a little disheveled," She asked her once bubbly expression now replaced with concern.
There was a serious look in her eyes as she glanced down at Mizuki's shirt. After the little fight with Akiyama, she had gotten some blood stains on it, but with everything that was going on, the two teens hadn't noticed.
They shared a glance unsure with what to do. It's not like lying to her would be a good idea, seeing as she had already seen Mizuki's shirt.
"We uh... got into a little bit of a... scuffle, on our way back," Aizawa finally piped up.
"Do I even want to ask?"
"It was completely my fault ma'am. I had picked a fight with another person. Aizawa had to hold me back," Mizuki apologized, bowing deeply towards the older women.
Her stare lingered on her for a minute, before letting out a tired sigh.
"I'm not mad, just worried is all. I mean, what kind of fight ends up with your clothes all bloody?" At this, the two teens could only laugh awkwardly.
