Sehun was lying on his bed thinking about his life in general. He turned his head towards the clock and noticed the time. It was 7:30pm. In a few hours he will be turning eighteen but why wasn't he even a little excited about it? Why wasn't he throwing a big party like majority of teenagers would?
Oh right.
He stopped celebrating his birthday when no one even bothered to remember it.
No need to pity him. Sehun got used to it eventually. He had to, after what happened on his eleventh birthday: he woke up expecting a surprise breakfast from his parents but all he got was an empty house and the butler telling him that his parents had to fly to Dubai for an emergency meeting and they would be back in two weeks.
Just like that. No birthday wishes, no gifts, no surprise breakfast. Just emptiness.
After that episode he just stopped caring about having a countdown to his birthday or thinking about how to celebrate it.
Sehun knew that his father was an important business man which meant that he didn't have much free time and his mother, being his business partner, had the same schedule and had no time to take care of their only child.
He understood that.
That's why the only thing he could do was get used to growing up with absent parents.
The only time they were home they were still busy with meetings or anything that involved their company.
Now you might be thinking 'what about his friends?' of course they would want him to celebrate his birthday, but the thing is: Sehun had no friends.
At least not real ones.
The people he called friends were actually just schoolmates. People he hung out with so that he wouldn't be alone and considered a loser. But none of them actually cared about knowing Sehun for real, they only let him join the group because of his family social status. Sehun was aware of it but again, he too was just using them so it was actually a win for both parties.
While he was deep in thoughts someone knocked on the door.
Sehun turned his head toward the door and answered "come in".
"Young master, your mother prepared a suit for tonight's dinner and asked me to bring it for you to change into" Herbert said.
He was the head of all the servants in the house and the person who practically saw me grow up, maybe the closest parent figure i ever had."Why do i need to wear a suit for dinner?" Sehun asked a little curious.
Did his parents finally remember his birthday after 7 years of forgetting it?
Did they want to have a special dinner tonight to welcome his eighteenth's birthday exactly on midnight?
"Tonight is a very important dinner for your parents. Depending on tonight's outcome your family's company could get a very good deal" the butler answered.
Oh
"A business dinner?" the young boy asked trying to hide the disappointment in his voice.
"Yes and Mrs Oh want you to be there. She wants you to start learning how to run the company by letting you witness tonight's business dinner" Herbert answered while hanging the suit "the guests will arrive soon, so it's better if you change as soon as possible" he continued and with a final bow he exited the room.
Sehun just stared at the suit. It wasn't the first time his parents involved him in a business meeting. He's been to three already, today would be the fourth time so he wasn't really a newbie, he knew how to act. Unwillingly he stood up and headed to the bathroom to take a shower first and then change his attire.
