Fact Number One

So if you sleep 8 hours a night on average and live to be 75 then you will sleep 1/3 of your life. In total that's 25 years you spent asleep, or 9,125 days. If you think that's a lot then think about the fact that cats spend 2/3 of their lives sleeping.

Fact Number Two

12% of people dream in entirely black and white. The study was conducted to find out if the differences between colored dreams and black and white dreams could be caused by media. They had two age groups, with different media experiences, who were compared as they answered questions and kept diaries to measure their dream color. It turns out the older generation, who were exposed to black and white media before color media, dreamed in more grey scale than the younger generation who never experienced black and white media. This caused the study to believe that true black and white dreams only occur to those who were exposed to black and white media.

Fact Number Three

Parasomnia is a sleep disorder that refers to unusual movements, behaviors, emotions, perceptions, and dreams that happen when you're about to fall asleep, asleep, or between phases of sleeping. There's many different disorders that are under this umbrella of sleep disorder but some can be quite scary. There's been such extreme cases that have resulted in sexual assault or even murder. Scary, right?
