I have traveled all across North America and seen several things that were hard to explain. I've come across legends such as the black dog some truckers talk of. I've seen an entire hillside explode into a huge murder of crows that couldn't have possibly all been hidden under the thin leaf covered ground. I've had the pleasure of seeing storms stand still.
I've only seen three types of creatures no one believes. I cant explain away the things I've seen. Once at Hardy Lake around the time of desert storm I was at a family reunion. I walked away down to a cozy place on the lake. It was the step grandfathers family no one much cared for me. I really liked being down by the water where it was quieter.
I seen two jet planes swoop in like they were doing manuvers. When you're a kid watching fighter jets swoop around is one of the most awesome things you could ever ask for. Then the unbelievable part happened. Out from the direction the two planes came in swooped this massive bird.
The bird was definitely some type of raptor, meaning it looked similar to hawks and eagles. This bird was almost as big as the jets. It was almost as fast as them too. I watched as they rolled and turned trying to evade the massive bird. They finally climbed and I lost sight of the three. I ran back to the reunion and tried to tell everyone what I seen. I wanted to see if anyone else saw it as well. I pointed to the jet streaks. But that was the only evidence and my wild story was waved off.
Sometime around the same age I went to New Mexico to spend Easter with my aunt and cousin. We seen ancient native American ruins. We went out into the desert and hiked many canyons and cliffs. Atop on of those cliffs I seen something unbelievable. It made no sense. How could such a thing be?
Beneath us on the canyon floor was a massive toad. This amphibian was the size of a huge bolder. It was right beneath me in the curve of the cliffface facing the wall. It clawed at the sand as it crawled along. Big massive warts behind its eyes. Its easy to tell a toad when you see one. Though one that huge? What was it doing in the middle of the desert?
Naturally I tried to tell all my friends about it when I came home and returned to school. They all laughed at me. Some called me a liar. No one believes the people who try to share anything beyond the comforts of normalcy. The longest lasting, most influential, and continuous sightings I've kept very secret. I'd like to wish they were special only to me. My love of that wonderful muddy water and the Wonder Whales of the Ohio.
