' The Downfall '

"Hey Violet, keep safe okay?" I heard when Aunt Lily told my mom as they were getting ready to go out.

"Of course, sis, don't worry about us too much. We'll be fine." Violet replied to her worried sister to assure her.

I saw my dad and mom carry their things and walked up to the front door. Lily followed them while carrying me in her arms as they were about to go out. Dad pulled up the car to the driveway and went inside in the driver's seat. And for the last time, mom came back to us said her goodbyes to aunt Lily and me.

My poor innocent mind couldn't process what was happening. I see them walking, carrying their belongings. I was just staring, looking side by side without having any idea what's happening around me.

"Don't worry I'll take care of Jake. And if something happens to you and Steve just call my number. Have a safe trip, it's already late." Aunt Lily advised.

Mom fluttered to the driveway and stepped inside their car. Moments later they kickstarted the car and drove to their destination. My eyes directly looking at the car until it became smaller and smaller and faded away from my sight.

"I really hope they'll be safe" Aunt Lily whispered to herself. "Come on Jake let's go inside now" She playfully said to me as she shut the door behind her.

*CRRRIIIINNNG!*

Something loud rang through my ears, then followed by silence. Not too long after, it rang again, but louder.

*CRRRIIIINNNG!*

I lifted up my hand from its place and reached for the bedside table to turn off the annoyingly loud alarm clock. I went back to sleep right after turning off my alarm but I can't go back to sleep anymore, it's as if my soul was fully awakened by that darn loud alarm that I can't seem to fall asleep again.

Minutes after giving up on falling asleep again, I woke up but went blank a for a second as if I was taken to another dimension and was still in the dream-like state of my mind.

"I dreamt of it again..." I pondered as I opened my eyes to the bright sunshine passing through the window.

I heard birds tweeting just outside the window which wasn't there yesterday, so I came to check it out. I looked through the window and saw baby hatchlings that just broke out of their egg and two adult birds feeding them. "Must be their parents..." I thought.

After checking out my new bird neighbors, I turned back to my comfy bed and sat down, letting out a big sigh. "Sigh. It's that dream again. Thought I'd never dream of that dream again... Sixteen years ago huh? Time sure passes by really fast." I whispered to myself, thinking of the past.

It's been sixteen years since mom and dad passed away, even though I was just a baby back then, I sure miss them.

Ever since Aunt Lily told me, that they died in a plane crash going to Texas for some business matters, I've felt numb since then. Never really felt sadness greater than that, cause of the fact that I never grew up with them by my side..

"it's just— ah..." I depressingly thought.

I consciously fell on my back and lied down on the bed again, staring at nothing but the ceiling. I just woke up from my sleep, but... I was already thinking too much about everything. I was just staring at the ceiling for a good couple of minutes until someone knocked on the door.

*knock* *knock*

I looked at the door but didn't bother to open it. I was too lazy to stand up and open the door.
