DROPLETS OF RAIN tapped at her window as sabrina lay on her bed, buried my her thoughts. the sky grew darker and with each drop, the tap became fainter, developing into a heavier stream of water. a cold wind gently howled, and she could feel the icy draught through the cracks on her windowsill.
a pool warm prickly tears began to form in her eyes. what was she supposed to do. how could she have been SO stupid. aunt hilda was right. always ,ALWAYS,think before you speak.
she could still picture his face, his eyes, drowning in never-ending sorrow and disappointment. it was almost as though she could see his heart tear apart inside him.
//
" so, students, what is your interpretation of love? is it what catherine and heathcliff had? is there any way to describe it? what emotions does it evoke in you?" - brother everthorn asked as he paced slowly around his desk.
sabrina reluctantly raised her hand.
"yes, ms... spellman"
"love is one of the strongest emotions a person can probably ever feel. almost everything we do is out of love. and when we find that person who makes you feel safe,makes you want to be your kindest self, feel confident to risk all for them-"
everyone around had gone quiet and nick had looked up at her, his face apprehensive. she saw him gulp down, an unbeknownst to her, ocean of tears.
"-abandon your other ways in order to be with them, you feel complete. happy. as simple as that. happy. but fulfilled"
silence loomed.
"harvey" - whispered nick, and jerked back around to face brother everthorn, his face buried in his hands.
immediately as the bell went he belted out of class, disappearing.
//
she hurt him. badly. she knew how he felt right now; that she loved only harvey ever and not him. that he was second to harvey.a second choice. but he wasn't. sabrina legitimately felt like drowning herself in tears right now.
she couldn't bear hurting him. he loved her. he hinted it a number of times but was too worried to ever say it.
he was always there for her. and even thought at times she felt vulnerable with him, the minute he put his hand in hers, the warmth he brought, rippled through her body, and she felt safe. his touch. he was so gentle. every time she felt his arms around hers or his lips on hers, she melted. he would never hurt, not willingly. he loved her both sides, with and mortal she would never have to give up either for him. she would never have to give up anything for him. and even if she had to, he would always help find a way around it.
his eyes. they were a beautiful mesmerising piercing black, and she loved how they glistened when she smiled. as dark in colour as they were, she only ever saw brightness.
the rain poured down as heavy as ever now. and that was when it hit her.
she loved him. she did. she truly did. he made her feel like no one did. completely different to what harvey had. this was more real. more mature. she knew she would risk anything for him. hell, she would go to anywhere for him to save his soul. his extraordinary soul.
she loved him.
and she needed to tell him.
sabrina threw in a pair of shoes and ran out of her room, and out the door, heading outside. she didn't care that it was absolute pouring rain, she had to find nick. but where would he be? where would he go where no one could find him, but where he felt like home.... the woods. the place where he left his familiar...
sabrina ran down the street, within a few seconds completely she was drenched by rainwater , which had mixed with her tears. it was freezing, but somehow she was too caught up to feel it. all she could think about right now was getting to nick.
thunder grumbled in the background as sabrina reached the woods, and that was when she saw him. he sat against the tree, fuddling with a daisy. he was completely soaked and water was dripping down his hair. he had been here for a while. he looked up to check the sky and his expression changes once he noticed sabrina.
"sabrina please just leave. you don't need any explanation," - he flinched.
sabrina swallowed her tears . it hurt. he had almost given up. she couldn't let him-
"nick..." - sabrina could barely pull herself as he began to stand up, turning away. " please don't leave me. nick i need you. i do. and i know you are thinking the worst things right know but you have to believe me"
nick turned to face her, scrunching his face, evidently trying to keep his tears together.
"believe me that what i said wasn't true. i really didn't think things through. who would want love to make them feel true love like that. that is just friendship. still young. but not everyone can make you feel a real, passionate love where you feel vulnerable and safe at the same time, that whenever you think of the person your heart quakes because you worry, love them and you feel everything possible towards them. and as bad as this is i don't know why it's taken me so much time to tell you, even though i have known for so long. i guess it was new for me and i still don't know stuff but i know, nicholas, i love you. i do. and i really hope you know how much i mean that. i have never felt something so strong that has consumed me so much. i know i would be could do anything with you because i know that you will always be there to catch me..."
sabrina was a crying mess right now. as she wiped a tear away, she suddenly felt a cold yet warming hand on her cheek.
"sabrina... i love you and i couldn't think of anyone else i would risk everything for. please know you always have me and i will forever love you ," nick smiled as he wiped away another one of her tears and tucked a wet strand of her platinum hair behind her ear.
as the rain still crashed down, they stood there both staring into each other's eyes, and then he softy smashed his lips onto hers and sabrina felt the weight of the world lift off her shoulders as he snaked his arm around her tiny waist. she was here with him and that was all she needed. her love in the rain, as perfect as could possibly be.
