It was a few minutes and two drinks before I started to feel something else besides sadness, anger, and betrayal. I heard someone sit in the bar stool next to me and ask for a whiskey. he took a drink, "you alright?" he asks and I turn toward him, "no, absolutely not. My fiance cheated on me with my best man, today of all days, our wedding day. and all I wanna do is get back at him but I don't know how." I took another drink. "how about talking with another person that had their heart broken." he said I put my drink down and nod. "how about I introduce myself. My name is Aren. And I would love to get to know you."
Before I could answer him, my sight went completely black. I felt panic creep into my chest, but not long after, I heard distant voices. It was like I was hearing them through a glass box. But I recognized them, Magnus and what I believed to be Alec. After a few seconds, their voices became clearer, "Any change? Anything at all?" Alec said, there was a sad tone to his voice, I didn't quite know why. "No. Nothing." Magnus replied he sounded rough, deeper than usual. It was how he would sound when he hadn't slept for a few days. "Magnus. It's been two years, and you still sit there, hoping she will wake up. Just face it. She's gone. We should just move on with our lives." This was a new voice, Jace's voice. "How could you say that? She saved your life more times than you could count, mine, Clary's and Isabelle's too. We can't just give up." Jace growled, "It's been two fucking years! Didn't you hear me?!" There were a few footsteps and a soft female voice, "come on Jace, let's go." It was Isabelle, more footsteps and a creaky door opening and closing. "I miss her Alec, I wish she would just wake up." Alec sighed, "me too Magnus, me too." More footsteps followed after his voice.
I tried to scream, move my arms, open my eyes, anything. I started to panic again. I didn't like not being able to see, I tried, harder, and harder, until finally... I moved. I shot upwards, my eyes slamming open and a huge circle of green magic erupted from my body. I breathed heavily, still panicking. I looked around frantically, trying to find any sign of where I was. Instantly I saw that I was in an infirmary, angelic runes surrounded pillars of wood. The Institute. I was home. Not at a bar? "Kiri?" I heard Magnus say, I looked to my left and saw him. He looked horrible. Dark circles and bags under his eyes, his hair was a slight mess. His eyes became glossy, a tear falls down his cheek. "Magnus?" I replied, my voice scratchy, I instantly regretted talking, I grasped my neck, wincing at the stinging pain coming from my throat. He shot up, grabbing a glass of the bedside table and holding it out to me, I took it gladly, chugging it, not caring if it was alcohol or water. My throat soothed slightly. Probably enough to speak. I breathed slightly heavily and I looked at him, "what's going on? Why am I here?" He blinked, not answering me, "Magnus, what is going on?" He looked at me, a sad look stuck to his face. "You've been in a coma." I blinked, analyzing what he said, 'They were talking about me..' "two years?" I asked, he looked confused, "how did you-?" I interrupted him, "I heard you talking with Jace and Alec, a few seconds ago." He exhaled and nodded, "what do you remember?" I thought for a moment, "I remember being in a bar, I ran there after you cheated on me, on our wedding night..." Magnus laughed, "come on stop messing with me!" I looked at him confused and ran my fingers through my hair, stopping to feel two prominent horns. I blinked, very confused, "Magnus is this some kind of joke?" He stopped laughing and looked at me, realizing what I was doing, "wait, what?" I felt like my mind was going a million miles an hour. "What the fuck is going on?" He rubbed his eye slightly, "you really think that I cheated on you? And you went to a bar? And you don't know you have horns?" I shook my head, "wow, well I didn't expect that." I took a deep breath, "for the third time, what the hell happened?"
He stood up and sat on the bed next to me, "two years ago we were finally getting rid of Sebastian. After everything he had done, the bastard was going to die. Right before you finished him off, however, he landed an insane blow on you, sending you flying, you hit your head hard on the wall. In a rage, we all went after him, brutally killing him. There wasn't much left of him when we were finished. I carried you back here, you had a serious concussion and you're head was cracked open. You hadn't woken up... Until now." I blinked, I remembered killing Sebastian with Magnus, 'I guess, that was just something my mind made up?' I took a deep breath, "okay then, everything that happened...? Hearing Ashley became a werewolf, Eric hitting on me, you guys fighting, being taken by Sebastian, killing him, none of that really happened?" He raised his eyebrow, "who...?" He asked, "what do you mean who..?" He chuckled, "Kiri, we don't know anyone named Ashley or Eric." My heart stopped, I froze, 'everything wasn't real?!' I closed my eyes, holding back the scream that tried to run up my throat. Magnus sighed, "I guess, you had a dream, a long one I imagine." I took another deep breath, calming myself down, with the best of my ability. Before I could talk again, the doors opened, someone walked in, by the sound of their footsteps they were wearing heels. "Hey Magnus, I'm sorry about Jace," It was Isabelle, she got closer. "This situation has got him on edge, I know he didn't mean what he-" She turned and looked straight at me, I looked straight at her. "Said." She finished her sentence. "What the hell?!" She yelled, she looked between the two of us, her eyes wide with shock. "Magnus what did you do?!" She growled at him, he sighed, probably trying not to get defensive. "Why do you automatically assume that I did something?" She looked at him slightly annoyed, "because she has been asleep for so long, you said it yourself that she would probably never wake up again." I rubbed my eye lightly, "Isabelle, he didn't do anything to wake me up, he was just as surprised as you are." She looked at him, he nodded then she ran over and hugged me tightly, "sorry, I just didn't want to get my hopes up if you weren't yourself." I smiled and hugged her back. "It's alright, I understand that," she sniffed, and pulled away, sitting on the bed with us. "We've all missed you so much." I smiled at her, she jumped up, "I'm going to get the others, everyone is going to be so happy to have you back." I chuckled and nodded, she jogged off and I moved to the side of the bed, getting up, and before Magnus could object, I pulled him up to me and kisses him. He certainly did not complain. He pulled away and hugged me so tight. "I missed you so much." I smiled into his shoulder, "I love you." I said to him, he chuckles quietly, "I love you too."
