CHAPTER I.

THE BUSY STREETS OF QUEENS, NEW YORK SOUND THROUGH MY apartment - muffled by the brick walls lined with insulation and plaster - acting as a background noise. The Wizard of Oz plays on the TV, as I lounge on my reddish leather couch - beer in-hand.

A knock on my cheap apartment's door diverts my attention away from the classic - yet amazing film - that is The Wizard of Oz. Hitting pause on the remote and grabbing my lensless glasses, I trudge my way towards the front door, expecting the pizza boy to have finally arrived.

Pulling out $10 from my purse, I open the door - not looking up. "Hey, Jared. It's $10, right?" I ask, finally looking up to find a dark-haired woman in a agent-esque suit. "You're not Jared..." I trail off, confused.

"No, I am not, Ms. Casey. My name is Agent Maria Hill. I work for the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. Can I come in?" she acts professionally - something I'm not very used to. "Sure." I respond, opening the door wider to give her access to my crappy apartment.

"Sorry... about the mess... I wasn't expecting company..." I apologise, as I start cleaning up a small bit - also switching off the TV. "What can I help you with, Agent Hill?" I ask politely, gesturing for her to take a seat on the couch beside me.

Taking a seat, she hands me two files. Opening up the first one, I find a file on myself. About me and my powers. "SHIELD has been keeping tabs on you for a couple of months now." she explains, making me a little creeped out. 'Stalker much?'

"And, uh, why are you telling me this?" I ask, trying to normal - but also confused as to why I'm here. I open up the second file, I find files on an object called the Tesseract, and a man - no sorry, a god - named Loki. "SHIELD needs your help to stop Loki and retrieve the Tesseract. We're activating an initiative that is to be used when the world is in danger. It's called The Avengers Initiative. Will you help us?" she asks, practically pleading.

Excitement bubbles through me as I finally get to use my powers for good. I can finally be a superhero. "Do I get a suit? Ooh, a name, maybe? Like Wonder Woman? Or Power Girl?" I ask rapidly, extremely excited, which makes Agent Hill chuckle. "Okay, get ready. There's a car waiting outside." she instructs, taking the classified files back as I escort her out. "Gimme five minutes." I exclaim excitedly. "You got three." she states over her shoulder, as I close the door. I squeal in excitement, before rushing into my room and packing a bag, ready to be a frickin' superhero.

THE STRONG WINDS FROM THE OCEAN BLOW MY BLONDE HAIR AND beige trench coat all over the place as I stand on the runway of the SHIELD Hellcarrier. I look around in awe as workers place restraints on the jets that agents have just landed in. "Awesome." I mumble to myself as I look around - pushing my glasses up the bridge of my nose.

"Ms. Casey." a feminine voice calls for me, making me turn around. I come face-to-face with a red-haired woman - who's extremely hot, but not my type. I prefer to be a top, and she clearly is a top. Beside her is a muscular blonde man who I instantly recognise as Captain America, or Steve Rogers. It's Captain frickin' America. On the other side is an older, wise-looking - yet nervous - man.

"I'm Agent Natasha Romanoff. This is Dr. Bruce Banner and--" she introduces them to be, but I cut her off. "Captain Steve Rogers." I finish nervously, shaking his hand and almost forgetting about my super strength. "Wow, ma'am. That's a firm handshake you got there." Steve comments, making me pull away. "Sorry. I sometimes forget my own strength." I explain nervously, making Agent Romanoff smirk, knowing what I can do.

"It's good to meet you, Dr. Banner. Your work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled." I shake Bruce's hand, earning a look of both surprise at gratefulness in return. "Thank you..." Bruce trails off, not knowing my name. "Right, sorry. It's Ellen. Ellen Casey." I stumble nervously, making him chuckle. "Sorry, I'm just... extremely nervous and excited." I explain, calming myself. "It's alright, ma'am." Steve chuckles, making me sigh in relief.

"Gentlemen, you might want to step inside in a minute. It's gonna get a little hard to breathe." Natasha suggests, confusing us. I understand why she wouldn't have to address me with her warning, but why do we need to be warned in the first place?

The platform we are standing on starts making machine noises, similar to an engine. "Is this a submarine?" Steve questions,  curious. "Really? They want me in a submerged, pressurised, metal container?" Bruce questions incredulously, referring to his angry self. The Hulk. I wonder who would win in a fight? Me or The Hulk?

The three of us walk to the edge and see turbines spinning, pushing the platform up instead of down. This entire place is about to frickin' fly. Awesome. "No, no, this is much worse." Bruce comments over the howling winds, making me laugh. "For you, maybe. But for me... this is frickin' awesome!" I exclaim, making Steve, Bruce and even Natasha chuckle. Man, I love SHIELD.

A/N: What do you think of Ellen so far? She's very similar to Kara Danvers from the show, Supergirl. But, she's more nerdy - having a love for science since on Krypton, her parents were scientists. Ellanda (Ellen and Wanda) will happen during Age of Ultron, which will happen after this. So, comment what you think so far!
